"X for ne, but not for thee!" Is a standard republican mantra.

Trump already told us why.  It's because they have a strong Republican governor in DeSantis and a previous strong republican governor in Rick Scott.

Does she know that 70% tax rate was back in the "good ol' days?" You know, when you could be an openly racist piece of shiat and condemn a black man to death by claiming he made a pass at you/your "girl."

Oh, I expect there's A LOT his attorney can't explain.

Because Florida is a lock for whatever party panders to rich, white, afraid, old people and even if the mailmen try to cheat somehow it would still be a win for a loudmouth, misogynist, bankruptcy laden, plague rat, candidate from said party..?

Their entire strategy is and always has been, based on fear and hatred so why should this election be any different.

Worse job than assistant crack whore IMHO.

Probably because the Trumpster fire tried to register to vote via mail in Florida (and has voted by mail in previous years) committing voter fraud.

It's certainly not like Florida has screwed up counting ballots for several elections for the last 20+ years.

No Repug lawyer ever talks about the law, they talk about distorting the law to the way they want them to be.

Well, yeah. When step 1 of that defense is claiming that Florida has become the leader in voting integrity, you're facing an uphill battle that makes everest look like a a quick stroll around the block. You'd have to be as dumb as, well, as dumb as Trump to try to make that claim straight-faced, much less go on to any arguments about mail-in.

It's amazing how dug in some of these people are. Actual (summarized) conversation I had yesterday:

P1: "There is rampant fraud in mail in voting"

Me: "Mail in voting is no longer an issue. If trump says they solved the problem in Florida, take what they did there, and fix it everywhere. Unless he's lying and Florida did nothing...but he's promoting it so it would still be safe, no?"

P1: "Florida is safe because they have a great governer like Desantis in charge. You can't do what he did everywhere"

Me: ~holds back gag reflex~ "I'm very curious to hear specifically what DeSantis has done with election security in Florida to earn your confidence."

P1: ~10 minute rant about other governors, including Pritzker in Illinois and his toilets, and something about Whitmer in Michigan and her husbands boat~

Me: "That doesn't answer my question at all. What has DeSantis done with election security in Florida, specifically, that has earned your trust? Why is mail in voting safe in Florida, and not anywhere else?"

P1: ~10 minute rant about how all democrats want is to remove trump, this is just a smear campaign with no real purpose. Bonus mention of Obama.~

Me:"I hate to sound like a broken record, but what ~specifically~ did DeSantis do in Florida to make mail in voting safer than anywhere else? I'm not interested in partisan bickering. I'm not interested in what Democrats or Republicans want or are suspected of wanting. If Florida found a solution, I'm interested in hearing it.The president unquestionably stated that Florida is safe from mail in vote fraud. I'm looking for factual, on-topic, concrete reasons why that is."

Conversation is ended abruptly because apparently "Liberals just don't get it".

Ah, employed by the public sector with not a whit of irony.

You know, as we get closer to November, I'm beginning to expect that we'll see much worse attempts at suppression beyond mail in voting farking. You'll see an uptick of "Official" notices saying things like "To limit the potential exposure to COVID-19, Election Day has been split. Those who are registered as Republicans will vote on Tuesday Nov 3 while Democrats and Independents will vote on Wednesday November 4."

2020-08-07 10:16:55 AM
The cult isn't going to get to vote either.

"Sir!  I object!"

"On what grounds?"

"The answer to that question is devastating to my client's case!"

2020-08-07 10:31:40 AM
Because he and many of his staffers who don't actually live in Florida are registered to vote there and will use mail-in ballots?

It's all about winning. Republicans never argue in good faith and don't believe the things they say. Words are a means to an end.

What "liberals don't get" is they want Republicans to vote and Democrats not to. Florida has made it clear they're willing to do this. That's all it is.

Been there.

It is very frustrating.

Yesterday I was with a bsab guy who claimed I couldn't criticize trump's hydrochloroquine push or the demon seed doctor because she only talked about demon seed as a religious person and not a doctor, and that dr. Fauci changes his mind every day about things.

I asked him for one example of fauci going A-B-A on a single thing ever, let alone a day to day shift.

"Well, I don't pay attention like you do, so I can't answer your questions" like I threw him a gotcha. I asked him if he still believes the claim he just admitted he has no factual basis for: yup.

Its simple.  Florida starts with and F.  States that don't start with F, especially if they start with a vowel, aren't as trustworthy and secure for mail.  Duh.  (Cause why not, make as much sense as any "real" explanation Trump would come up with)
