(Fark)   Apparently, Walmart is now use their parking lots as drive-in movie theaters. What would be your People of Walmart themed double feature? Are you a block of government cheese or turkey leg snacker? Would you dress up, or show up in pajamas?   (fark.com) divider line

For those that want some back ground on this. FYI, the area had a drive in theater at one time.

I really hate the wal mart hate. In most places wal-mart hasn't replaced any mom/pop store any more than US POSTAL service did with delivering mail order stuff.

Walmart serves a function to 'food deserts' in the rural communities of America.
In small communities in the south particularly. The only other option for food was Piggly Wiggly or Winn Dixie.
Both horrible over priced. And for hardware and such...you'd be lucky if you had a "Western Auto" to take a day trip for to get a wheel for the car.

In that fashion Walmart is good for the environment to keep people from driving on carbon fuel for an hour to get their Xmas presents or weekly groceries because it's all in one place.

And NO the small "Truck" farmer or "Fruit Stand" isn't going away down here in the south in the land of walmart.
There's like 3 of them close to me...overpriced AF..but much better tomatoes and cukes and corn.

Sears is probably the biggest FU story of the last century.

Sears had it all. A distribution system, stores every farkenwhere. A Catalog that was basically a part of American for it's comprehensive items and 'wishlists' for Christmas. Pick up/or delivery on ordering.

I mean Sears could have at all with being a 'walmart'.
But then the "Objectivist" ayn rander CEO's got a hold of it.

I mean if anyone calls them self an "Objectivist" ..remind them that EVERY FARKEN TIME IT FAILED in THE MARKET OF IDEAS....so even by it's on metric. It's a failed system and Objectively a defective product no one wants to buy in to.

My Walmart "hate" is directed to the billionaires who own the company, but can't figure out how to pay their employees a living wage.

Plus, Walmart prices are not always the best.

We do what little we can.

I've never set foot in a Walmart, but I live in El Lay; I have that luxury and I know others do not .

That still doesn't excuse the Walton billionaires from the choices they make.
