Sounds to me like Bobby Knight still had some sway in Lubbock.

Wow, 24 hours from publishing the story in USAToday to the coach being fired.

Of course, it would have been better if the Title IX complaints and the exit interviews had been acted on in, say, the last 2 years.

Baylor would still be in full-on denial mode, with defections of senior administration to Liberty U by this point.

Depends on the success of the program.  Baylor is more than willing to cut bate on Coaches when they aren't producing contenders every year.

Yea, it's always amazing how "new information" that "came to light" (I'm sure something similar to that will be said in the official address today) tends to be very similar to the same information that was available previously.

Also, here's the AD's statement from literally Wed:

"Additionally, based on information received we conducted an in-depth program review of our women's basketball program. ... I have thoroughly discussed this review with Coach Stollings and am confident that we are taking appropriate steps to improve the relationship and communication between coaches and student-athletes so that we can continue to grow the success of our program both on and off the court."

I'm guessing that, while he tried to just sidestep it, a couple of major donors threatened to cancel pending endowments if the problem wasn't taken care of right away.

Meanwhile, Gerald Myers, Kent Hance and Craig James can still eat the peanuts from my shiat.

FTFA: Players said the coaching staff demanded that they maintain a heart rate of at least 90% of capacity during games and that they faced loss of playing time or more conditioning work if they didn't. A pediatric sports medicine director said maintaining a heart rate that high would be "very difficult" to do.

Yeah, "very difficult" would be an understatement.

I'd really like some specifics there because that is just idiotic and simply isn't going to happen even if a player plays a full forty minutes in a sport with constant stoppages.

Fitness trackers can give you a good sense of where you're at even if not wholly accurate.

If I'm hitting 97% when I'm constantly moving there is simply no way anybody on the planet is getting 90%+ for any appreciable amount of time in basketball even if the data is only collected between the whistles.
