Just got Max, looked through their DC content already, wasn't confused at all.

But I never expected the DC content from Universe and Max to be reconciled right away.

You know that app has about 5,000 movies that aren't based on comic books, right?

Also, wouldn't most die hard DC and Marvel fans already own most of those movies?

Loving Harley Quinn.
Absolutely love Doom Patrol.

Going to watch the Seth Rogan pickle movie.

Haven't needed/wanted to watch any of the Batman movies since 1989, so.....?

Doom Patrol has been amazing.

The newest episode was great today and I can't wait to see how it's resolved next week in the finale.

Now that DP is done with its 2nd season I plan to sign up for a month and binge the crap out of both of those.

It's still a bit of a mess with existing contracts for streaming and cable that were signed years ago. Hulu has the Dark Knight movies, and that is owned mostly by Disney, but HBO Max owned by Warner (and ultimately AT&T) has some of the X-Men movies while others are on Disney+. It'll settle down in a few years when those pre-existing contracts run out, like how the Disney-owned properties are slowly getting consolidated on Disney+ as their Netflix deal expires.

Just a heads up, the second season is 9 episodes and didn't properly conclude because of COVID. Don't get me wrong, I love the show but it is a huge cliffhanger until it resumes...

Just started watching Harley Quinn. I absolutely love it, and it's a great deconstruction of the genre. (Take note, Snyder - this is what a deconstruction actually is.) It's so crazy, obscene, and over the top that I can't help but love it. The pilot did seem like it was trying too hard, but after a few episodes it finds its voice and is a lot more confident in what it is.

Now all they need is Young Justice.

I guess it was a poor attempt at a maxi pad joke.

Swing and a miss jolo. :)

I'm accessing mine on PS4, which works for me for tv, obvs.

The content is excellent, but I'll also be glad when it comes to the Amazon Fire, since it's my primary streaming device.

There's a DP *season*?  Is it still ok to do it year-round?

I found a way to use Downloader to put it on Fire.  Looks like HBO icon, but opens to MAX.  Was 2nd or 3rd Google return when I searched

/was using PS4 before that

What pisses me off, is Perry Mason was available live on HBO Go the minute the show aired on the cable channel...but Max delayed its release for an hour.

/I'll be gone in the Dark was up simultaneously, though.

I didn't make it more than halfway into Season 3. Just...very disappointing. And I feel like a bait & switch happened with all the promotional material showing The Team plus the Outsiders, and it was only focusing on the Outsiders.

Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn essentially carved out a huge, "DC is for adults" niche. But they also have a lot of the classic animated stuff, along with the live action films. It IS a mish-mash, because of rights and not being able to bring them all under the same roof like Disney did with Marvel, but the HBOMax collection of stuff is nice. DC's animated fare has been consistently better than their live-action films for years. Doom Patrol is breaking that mold, and just killing it. Heck, they brought Flex Mentalo to life, and he's done well.

HBOMax does have some issues with their anime selections, and severely limited right now, despite pairing with Crunchyroll, but I'm hoping that will improve towards something like parity with Netflix, though if you want anime series nowadays, Hulu is a dang good choice. There ARE options, and HBOMax is slowly gathering their brand.

Someone in one of the other threads clued me in to how to get it working on FIre by sideloading it.  I don't think it's illegal (delete if so), but the details are here - there was a little fumbling around, but it seems to be working quite well so far.

There's possums in the autumn and there's farm cats in the spring.

I TRIED reading the comic, because of the show.
I read the first 5 (I have 10) of the Gerard Way rum and it's mostly gibberish!
It reads like a school kids notebook margin doodles and had I tried to read them FIRST?  I never would have watched the show.
I hate the pandemic for messing with season 2

Has anyone mentioned HBO Max isn't available on Roku yet? I'd hate for a Max thread to go without it.

Does HBO Max have the DCAU Justice Leage/Justice League: Unlimited, Batman: TAS, and Superman: TAS; or is all that stuff still restricted to DC's subscription service?

The show is more closely based on the Morrison run. That's the Doom Patrol comics you probably want to start with.
