Lou's is the best. And don't give me that stupid Pequod's or Giordano's take. You're wrong.

Though I rarely eat deep dish. Thin crust, square cut FTW!

And how many more are coming to IL for legal recreational weed? A pizza might mask the smell and distract the dog, in case you get pulled over...

$70 for two 9 inch pizzas? I don't farking think so.

I've never heard of Lou's pizza, and I'm not here to get into a debate about deep dish, but I am just amazed that there are 50 Lou locations in the Chicago area! I mean, I know it's a big city, but damn, that's a lot of locations for one pizza joint.

Chicago still has the best dish. No I have no argument for the deep-dish pizza being a casserole, but something thats fun to share with people who never had one. Sometimes it hits a craving. Its a sauce lovers wet dream.

But chicago has other pizza. And I would pit chicago pizza over anyone's in choice and awesomeness.

I'll also take Detroit style over New York any day.

I don't understand the idea of putting the sauce on top.  Layer it all you wish, but the top layer should hold the whole dish together.

Detroit style is the superior style.

Crack? Is that what they put in those pizzas?

CSB: a friend had a roommate that always hung out at with him at night. One Friday evening he leaves suddenly, and comes back the next evening. Friend asked him where he was. Roommate said he was hungry so he went to get some pizza... from Chicago... which was about a 10 hour drive one way.

/why yes, weed was definitely involved

I also had a friend take a 10 hour cab ride. Weed was involved, but had he not taken that car ride - I would never have been friends with him.

I still have very fond memories of the abomination I was served the very first time at Uno's in Kenmore Sq. in the early 90s!

but lately my goal has been, False Memories of that Beloved Pizza Hut Pan Pizza of Your Misguided Childhood.

JKLA-version, to be precise.

If I want a tomato and cheese pie, I'll make one, but I'd never call it pizza, and neither would the Eyetaleens.

only for "stuffed pizza" (like at giordano's or rosati's, when ordered by that name) but NOT chicago "deep dish"

is an entirely OTHER thing all over again, fresh summer garden tomatoes and a cheese/mayo (dukes!) baked topping....

that looks good! meanwhile, here in Philadelphia, "tomato pie" is basicamente pizza minus cheese. that's right, pizza crust, tomato sauce, and nothing else. the natives go nuts for it.

\V maybe all their cheese goes to cheesesteaks and they had none left for pizza

Wow... Nancy's. Haven't thought about that place in a loooong time. I didn't know it still existed.
Apparently there's one not too far from me. Maybe I'll get one some time. That was my moms favorite place and where they always ordered from when I was a kid.

lou's is my favorite.

here's a secret (from my stint as a waitress there around 2003) they don't (or at least didn't) put any cornmeal in the crust.

that "sweet and corn-y/buttery" taste is from a basic refined wheat flour crust but all the fat in it is corn OIL. ("butter-crust" just gets melted butter brushed on top of the regular crust when they pull it from the oven.) but all dough is made in each store, never shipped frozen or anything.

you will find a similar taste nationwide in frozen pizza if you can find "home run inn" -for the same reason, corn oil.

this is their best one:
