Knowing what they know now, forget surveillance, they would have been hacking into his IRS returns, Deutsche Bank, and any other thing he has touched. All to expose him and get voters to not make the wrong choice.

He's right. The biggest political crime of this century is unfolding, but it isn't this. It's his re election.

2020-08-05 3:53:46 PM
A president threatening his political opponent by baselessly accusing him of a capital offense is a totally cool and normal occurrence in modern western democracies.

Not at all what you would usually attribute to corrupt 3rd world dictatorships.

I guarantee that donny did not actually listen to the testimony.

Someone else listened to it, then they drew pretty pictures for him to try to explain what was said, then he completely ignored those pictures and made up in his head what he thinks they said.

There's no way that having 40% of the population believing that the guy who wins in November is a traitor can bode well. This harkens back to the election of 1860.

2020-08-05 4:22:47 PM
Somebody get Trump and Biden to agree to a treason-duel where the evidence is weighed in favor or against either one of them being executed.  My bet is Biden's scale has a couple of drone approval sign-off sheets and half of sandwich from Barack's lunch box.

Trump's on the other hand has broken the cast steel arm of the balance and has actually created a small crater in the Earth which has pulled in his children, his spouse, several GOP representatives and senators, and documents provided by Putin himself with a nice card explaining it's our own fault for electing an obviously demented puppet.

For Turley to have listened to that hearing, and to have come away with *that* line being a key takeaway, only points to how insistent he is to carry GOP water on this fiasco.

And then for the president to extrapolate that all to criminal behavior by Obama and Biden is clownshoes projection.

Literally that they were not spying on Trump's campaign, but going after Russian interference.  And kept running into the Trump campaign.

Sounds like even members of the Trump campaign had no idea how much other members of the Trump campaign were tied up with Russia.

They got their headline (Yates decries FBI and DOJ handling of Page investigation) who cares that she also pointed out that there is no evidence of political bias after the DOJ IG tore the place apart looking for it and that a lot of this was Comey calling audibles just like he did in the Clinton investigation?

The political trades are certainly clinging to this angle.

Nah. Legitimate or not, Biden can just shut it down when he becomes president, then install a puppet AG to prosecute Trump for treason.

After all, trump set the precedent: the rule of law is now whatever the president says it is.

On the one hand about 50% of the population thinks the guy that won in November 2016 is a traitor.

On the other hand the 40% that will believe Biden is a traitor tend to be more heavily armed than the 50ish% that believe trump is a traitor and a lot less mentally stable, generally speaking, so, yeah, your point stands.

in a sane world, lying under oath puts you on the record. then you get prosecuted because investigators take notes. if politicians in the Senate se no evil, it doesn't matter....maybe for good unless you defeat this man.

It wouldn't matter what an oath means to someone saying lies. It matters what it means to others, and at the moment it appears the meaning of oaths is "not much," however, records of such lies must exist. If you save your country you can go back and prosecute.

2020-08-05 4:54:13 PM
Let's see if I am following this correctly...

The Republicans believe that Hillary Clinton conspired with the Russians to *lose* the election, but make it look like it was Trump who conspired with the Russians, all so that Trump could be elected and then immediately impeached for colluding with the Russians in the election?

And Comey was in Hillary's back pocket, trying to keep Trump from winning, despite the fact that he said nothing at all about the Trump investigation, and instead brought up the email investigation on Hillary at the last minute and cost her the election?

This is truly 12th dimension Tiddly Winks

You're not wrong but do you think an oath would mean shiat to Donald? I mean neither his oath to his wives, nor his oath of office, have meant a damn thing to him.

He's swear in to Congress and testify that he was 7 and a half feet of lean muscle, a grim bloody fable leaving women ruined for other men for life. He can bench press 700 pounds on his rest days, and has more money than China. Like, the country of China, in sum. He's actually caught China Virus 53 times and wrestled it into submission every time. He doesn't try to avoid catching it because every time he catches it he advances the scientific study of the disease, nay of life itself, by decades. The owner of Harvard once called him and said "Sir we want to name the school after you. I also spoke to the president of The Calendar and we are going to restart the year numbering. What we call 2016 will now be year 1 in the Trump Era. All hail!"

And that's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

HighOnCraic: Even if what he's saying is true (and it's not), how could it be treason if they were spying on him (which they weren't) before the election?

You're putting way more thought into this than he does.

Myrdinn: Kinda wondering if he actually listened to the testimony.

For that matter, if any Republican (including the ones at the hearing) did.

Doesn't matter to them. They'll say it contained whatever they want to have been in it, and their constituency of shiatbags will eat it up with a spoon eagerly.

Trump has tried time and again to warn us about Obamagate. The last time was back in June, and since then, 50,000 Americans have died. DO SOMETHING

Trump: BIG NEWS! The Political Crime of the Century is unfolding. ObamaBiden illegally spied on the Trump Campaign, both before and after the election. Treason!

Also Trump: As president I can order any investigation I want because I have unlimited Article 2 powers.

Clearly this power only applies to Trump and not Obama.  A white power, if you will.

NateAsbestos: OldRod: She said, UNDER OATH, that they were not spying on Trump's campaign, but that they were investigating Russian's interfering with the election and Trump people kept getting caught up in it.

UNDER OATH!

Let's see you go under oath and try to refute that Donnie!

Except a narcissist... because honestly, can any of you really feel pity for a monster like Trump?

Yyyyup. Check out this video, starting at the 2:00 mark.

Agreed, but it's misleading to call it an attempted coup. Our country's enemies installed their puppet, and the treasonweasel has been doing their bidding ever since. I'd say it was a very successful coup.

Unless we're just going to classify anyone refusing to tongue punch mango mussolini's dirt star as "the enemy"...

I don't know if it qualifies as "giving aid and comfort", but Obama did try to reach out to the Republicans in Congress to get his legislation passed.

The orange turd and his turdlettes have already started on voter suppression. See thread about the postmaster general trying to triple the postal rates for mail in ballots.

See also the suit filed against Nevada for sending mail in ballots to all registered citizens. That is an attempt at  active and open voter suppression.

The republitrash won't give a shiat about any of that treason.

Literally that they were not spying on Trump's campaign, but going after Russian interference.  And kept running into the Trump campaign.

Sounds like even members of the Trump campaign had no idea how much other members of the Trump campaign were tied up with Russia.

More specifically to what he's tweeting about here, when Sally Yates said she "wouldn't sign off on the surveillance", it's because there was a small error on the surveillance request that was not caught until later.  Essentially a clerical error.  And no official would sign off on a request they KNEW had a clerical error that needed to be corrected and resubmitted, so of course Yates said she wouldn't sign off on it if she knew that, obviously, because it's against protocol.  A real nothingburger.

But the Rs on the committees worked REALLY REALLY HARD to get that soundbite out of her.

I'm not a betting man, but I would take that bet. You notice that he has not been slandering the intelligence community quite so openly lately? That's probably him trying to play nice and get them to do his bidding.
