I've been playing hockey for 40 years with a full visor. It's not a big deal once you get used to breathing downward to cut down on fog

Don't worry, it's not like you'll be playing football this year in them, at least not once half the SEC medically redshirts with COVID.

Speaking of...is the NCAA allowing for exemptions the way the NFL is or are they just plowing ahead bull-headedly like they do on just about everything else?

The NFL, MLB,NHL and the NCAA should have already shut down sports for the duration or a competently run federal government would have forced them to do so on ground of public health and safety.

Unfortunately what we got are the insane running the asylum and men who put dollars ahead of lives.

I'm going to take a second and defend the NHL (*spits*).  Their players were checked into a couple of hotels, kept isolated there for 3 weeks (with no Rona outbreaks), and are now playing in what is essentially a "bubble".  Players/coaches/staff have zero contact with the outside world for as long as the duration of the playoffs.  The arenas are completely empty of anyone who isn't living in that same "bubble".  Functionally, that's no different than you sitting in your house with your family.

I personally would have preferred they just call off the season.  But the NHL seems to have made the correct plays here; they've been playing games for a week (total of 5 weeks of isolation thus far) and there's been no Corona outbreaks anywhere connected to the hockey "bubble".  That's obviously unrealistic for the regular season, but in this case I wouldn't characterize the NHL's efforts as putting "dollars in front of lives".

Gosh, I mean we can't NOT play football, right?  If we don't play football, America stops being America, Chelsea Clinton automatically becomes the Queen, and EPA SWAT teams force everyone to get gay married and have abortions.

Okay to be fair the NHL has done better with this entire mess than the rest of the major pro sports leagues and NCAA combined.

I was also going to offer up that the NHL has done, I think the best of the leagues in their tournament.
They have teams in two cities only and only play in two rinks. I'm sure they have an entire hotel for all the teams. And, these guys are already used to playing and staying like this - so so many days and nights in hotels for out of town tournaments in empty rinks because it's the middle of the day on a Tuesday in some rando town you've never been too and all there is to do is be at the hotel or watch who is playing currently.

The NCAA though, I agree, shut that shiat down.

The NBA has done something very similar.  I think with football, there are just entirely too many people.  Just three college football teams could involve as many people as the entire NBA contingent.

Whoa! I had to reread that. I thought you were talking about post-menopausal lesbians but then I realized it said "clock".

About the face plate/ can't breathe thing. I'll bet some are telling the truth. Because they are having a claustrophobic panic attack.

"I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion. I'm just telling you: Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. And they're getting slaughtered. Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule No. 1 of business." -- Mark Cuban (March 2014)
