I mean, I think there are many reasons to not whole-heartedly embrace The Lincoln Project, the most important being that I'm sure they'll immediately turn on Biden as soon as he's elected.  They're working on trying to flush the remnants of Trump out of the Republican Party, so that a more traditional Republican type can get elected in 2024.

That said, though, even if they succeed in that aim, we're still a damn sight better off than we would be if Trump were re-elected. So, for now, at least, I appreciate the help.

John Kasich was approached to be his running mate.  Kasich asked what kind of role he'd have in a Trump administration, and he was told that he would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

Of course, the obvious followup question to that is this: so what would the President do?

The answer Kasich got was, "He's in charge of Making America Great Again."

I don't have a problem with the Biden campaign "staying positive" and not making these kinds of ads. But the Democrats need this kind of third party (or second party) infrastructure. The only group I can think of immediately is MoveOn, but they didn't operate the same way.

TLP is trying to make it seem the "normal" Republicans are reasonable so Joe Biden and the Dems will continue the dynamic being used for the last 30 years.
Everything they are doing now is harmful because it is downplaying how evil they are. It will have the same effect Bloomberg did. He made Biden seem like a progressive and therefore allowed people who should know better to vote for Biden in the primary.
Biden isn't fixing anything because he is conservative. Republicans pretending to be decent people leads to Republicans winning future elections because that current Democratic occupant had done nothing for the voters.

1) There's a reason corruption of blood is in the Constitution.  Jared's had enough failure; you don't need to link him to his father.

2) We have reason to believe that Jared committed politicide. It wasn't incompetence, it was intentional biological warfare against people of the United States exercising their freedom of association. He was trying to "hurt the right people."

3) The incompetence is that biology doesn't work that way.  They couldn't protect the red states, and now we all must suffer and die because Jared decided to commit politicide.

My commercial:

When Obama-Biden had an Ebola outbreak, they sent 2,000 people to West Africa to stop it there.

When Trump-Pence had a COVID-19 outbreak, they put Kushner in charge, and decided that dead Americans would make Blue State governors look bad.  What he didn't realize is that plagues spread, and now every American is in danger.  Our economy is in shambles. We have 4% of the global population and 20% of the COVID-19 deaths.

This pandemic has shown that all of us are connected.

All Americans benefit when everyone has healthcare, when everyone has opportunity, when everyone has dignity, when everyone has justice, when everyone has a voice, when everyone has a shot at the American dream.

Remember when we could rebuild after hurricanes?  Remember when we could respond to a pandemic?  Remember when we an American passport was the best in the world?

Let's make America great again.  Elect Joe Biden.

I don't see a future where the Lincoln project people will ever be in a position to dictate anything in the Republican party ever again. Bridges have been burnt and after a hypothetical Biden victory the people remaining in the Republican party are not going to be looking seriously at taking a step back from crazytown that more moderate Republicans can take advantage of. In their desperation they'll instead look to get co-opted by whatever reactionary movement shows the most political energy. In 2008 it was the teabaggers. This time around it looks they are already prepping the Q people for acceptance in mainstream Republican politics.

The better reason to not trust the Lincoln project people is that they are mercenaries who have been playing in politics for years as a game they will never truly experience the consequences of. Bring about the conditions that made Trump inevitable or be instrumental in his defeat, in both cases they got paid. If any of them had managed to lodge themselves in Trump's inner circle I could see each and every one of them be out on TV every day like Kellyanne Conway defending the worst parts of Trump's presidency.

I see it much more likely they'll just bask in the glory a Trump defeat would net them. It'll grant them steady pundit stardom for the foreseeable future not to mention guaranteed "How I did it: The defeat of Donald Trump" book deals. Why not keep a good thing going?

If any of them still has a conservative ideological backbone in the face of success, money and influence, the worst I can expect from them is getting on board another sad-as-fark Starbucks-CEO-style 3rd party project.

LOL I love how the people losing their shiat in here over the ads have to pretend as if their problem is with the messenger and not that it's attacking trump. Guess what jack-asses, nobody's being converted to republicans over these ads, and you would have to be pretty immature to actually believe that saying anything good about anything someone else says or does (even if you agree) is somehow and endorsement of literally everything that person stands for. So unless i'm dealing with actual 12 year olds trying to argue politics my guess would be that the people melting down in here are mostly just pissed off at the fact that this is criticism coming from within their own party so it's a lot harder to write off as opposition think, meaning they can't pretend that what they're doing is totally normal. same reason they despise Romney; They damn sure didn't just all of a sudden discover his voting record.

Yep. [D]s really are terrible at messaging aimed at Republicans, they genuinely seem to believe that they can somehow convert them over to Democratic priorities and values through emotional appeals, appeals to 'fairness,' and repetition. Or worse, trying to shame them into submission and compliance with condescension. And not only does it miss the mark, given the worldview / leadership-preference of a large number of voters, but it can frequently serve to harden the targets *against* Democrats.

I'm in a similar frame of mind. I've been of the never trust a Republican mindset since I first became aware of politics in my teens, so I'm extremely wary of the Project Lincoln people. I remember everything they've done before trump and hold them largely responsible for trump being able to waltz into the GOP and take over. And I'm certain they'll turn around and do the same evil shiat that got them here again as soon as trump is gone. But I have to admit they make good attack ads.

I'm more interested in seeing how the GOP base shakes out post-trump. When the establishment politicians try to distance from trump and pretend he didn't happen will the base turn on them? Will the right fracture into an openly fascist party and one that is slightly less fascist? And when will the murders start en mass?

There's far more that unites the GOP than divides them. God, guns, abortion, gays. It's pretty easy to get them to fall in line when there are so many one-issue voters they pander to. 

Contrast that to the Democrats where if you aren't one step shy of a full blown socialist, or you are in favor of not giving blanket amnesty to college debt, or you aren't in favor of unlimited abortion rights, or are not in favor of a total gun ban, you aren't really a Democrat and you're really a terrible person.

I swear, Democrats using the purity test right now is the ...

That said, though, even if they succeed in that aim, we're still a damn sight better off than we would be if Trump were re-elected. So, for now, at least, I appreciate the help.


TLP is trying to make it seem the "normal" Republicans are reasonable so Joe Biden and the Dems will continue the dynamic being used for the last 30 years.
Everything they are doing now is harmful because it is downplaying how evil they are. It will have the same effect Bloomberg did. He made Biden seem like a progressive and therefore allowed people who should know better to vote for Biden in the primary.
Biden isn't fixing anything because he is conservative. Republicans pretending to be decent people leads to Republicans winning future elections because that current Democratic occupant had done nothing for the voters.

1) There's a reason corruption of blood is in the Constitution.  Jared's had enough failure; you don't need to link him to his father.

2) We have reason to believe that Jared committed politicide. It wasn't incompetence, it was intentional biological warfare against people of the United States exercising their freedom of association. He was trying to "hurt the right people."

3) The incompetence is that biology doesn't work that way.  They couldn't protect the red states, and now we all must suffer and die because Jared decided to commit politicide.

My commercial:

When Obama-Biden had an Ebola outbreak, they sent 2,000 people to West Africa to stop it there.

When Trump-Pence had a COVID-19 outbreak, they put Kushner in charge, and decided that dead Americans would make Blue State governors look bad.  What he didn't realize is that plagues spread, and now every American is in danger.  Our economy is in shambles. We have 4% of the global population and 20% of the COVID-19 deaths.

This pandemic has shown that all of us are connected.

All Americans benefit when everyone has healthcare, when everyone has opportunity, when everyone has dignity, when everyone has justice, when everyone has a voice, when everyone has a shot at the American dream.

Remember when we could rebuild after hurricanes?  Remember when we could respond to a pandemic?  Remember when we an American passport was the best in the world?

Let's make America great again.  Elect Joe Biden.

TLP has stated that some of their ads were intended entirely for an audience of one.


They scored a bullseye with their Ivanka ad. I'm thinking this is their "Round 2" to that ad.


I listen to Wilson's and Jong-Fast's podcast. She is an ultra liberal NY resident reporter, but they are good friends. So it is amusing rather than infuriating like a pundit show. Anyway, he said that Kushner lost his damn mind after the Ivanka ad ran. He demanded that someone take out TLP. And Kushner is the real campaign manager, so TLP is neutering both Trump and the real idiot behind the throne.

That sounds reasonable on the surface.  If you dig a little deeper you see that diseases don't respect state boundaries.  Military bases need to be placed somewhere. Why should my taxes support a base in another state as opposed to my state where I could benefit from the bump to my economy?

We are interconnected more than you are willing to admit, and that is why nationalized health care, day care, elder care, education, pollution controls, research, etc is essential to a modern society.  We are no longer an 18th century agrarian society.  No one wants to pay for other people's mistakes, but those mistakes effect more than the individual that makes them.

I can just dream that once the Trumps are out of the White House, state attorneys general will go after Kushner et al like demons. I'm sure there would be enough evidence for New York to throw, say, a thousand negligent homicide charges at Jared.

I'm in a similar frame of mind. I've been of the never trust a Republican mindset since I first became aware of politics in my teens, so I'm extremely wary of the Project Lincoln people. I remember everything they've done before trump and hold them largely responsible for trump being able to waltz into the GOP and take over. And I'm certain they'll turn around and do the same evil shiat that got them here again as soon as trump is gone. But I have to admit they make good attack ads.

I'm more interested in seeing how the GOP base shakes out post-trump. When the establishment politicians try to distance from trump and pretend he didn't happen will the base turn on them? Will the right fracture into an openly fascist party and one that is slightly less fascist? And when will the murders start en mass?

Much too soon.  Bloomberg will spend strategically where his money makes the most impact.  He doesn't care about whether someone looks good or bad, or whether his ads get in good digs.  He cares about who wins and who loses, not just in any particular race, but overall.  He wants more than Trump defeated.  He wants a downticket thrashing so extreme that the name Trump will send shivers down the spines of political strategists for decades.  He wants "Trump" to reflexively mean "unprecedented landslide that pulls down everyone and everything in the party."  He has no interest in throwing millions at races where his money won't be the deciding factor.  As races tighten and as he and his team see where he can get the most return on his investment, his money will flow.  He wants a certain victory to be sure, but he also wants beholden politicians.  The ones he supports need to know they would have lost without his support.

There's far more that unites the GOP than divides them. God, guns, abortion, gays. It's pretty easy to get them to fall in line when there are so many one-issue voters they pander to. 

Contrast that to the Democrats where if you aren't one step shy of a full blown socialist, or you are in favor of not giving blanket amnesty to college debt, or you aren't in favor of unlimited abortion rights, or are not in favor of a total gun ban, you aren't really a Democrat and you're really a terrible person.

I swear, Democrats using the purity test right now is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Like, do you want to win or no, because if you keep banging that socialist giveaway drum, you're going to send a whole lot of working moderates like myself away because we actually don't believe taxes are "the price we pay for a society".

Honestly, the voiceover and such of this one didn't impress me too much. Subject is good and as someone else said the connection to his dad was good, but there was not much meat on the bones. I mean you could put together a half hour ad of Kushner as "secretary of fail" so it isn't like they don't have material to work with.
