Same.
I hate the hair, clothing and makeup styles from that era.
Seen a few pics of her when she wasn't all made up and she was pretty.

But

Bettie Page was prettier and sexier.
They were on par as actresses imho.

Only thing I've seen her in that I thought was pretty good was The Misfits, where she's kind of playing herself.  Dizzyish blonde at the end of the line.  IIRC, her husband Miller wrote that, so probably not a stretch.

People who don't "get" the original of anything are typically unable to understand what the world was like before they were born. You don't "get" Marilyn because you can't envision a world that doesn't include the image that she created. Same reason people don't "get" The Beatles or can't understand why Psycho and The Exorcist are scary.

Heard a good one today.  Apparently Paul McCartney said that he would never want to do a Las Vegas residency as so many of his peers had, that it would be "death" for him.  Hosts of this show (guessing all under 40) couldn't understand this, as there was so much money and fame to be made, status, etc.  I came to the conclusion that they'd never known a time when Rock was tinged with "rebellion" and when, to rockers, "Las Vegas" was reserved for the Past-Their-Primers, a synonym for "selling out your soul".  I figure it vanished when LV went from a playground for grown-ups to family vacation destination.

I'm a mid boomer and I was only 6 when she died, the oldest ones were in their teens, and the youngest weren't born yet. It was my parents generation that was grown up when she was a phenomenon, and died.

No horror movie has ever scared me more than that one did when I was 8 or 9 in the early 80s.  But yeah, it's funny now.

/The Day After is the only movie that ever scared me more (I was 9), but that's a different thing, obviously

No... I just know there were way prettier, way better looking actress working at the time....she just happened to have Heffner use 4 year old nudes she posed for to try and survive in the first issue of Playboy....beyond that...not a great actress...certainly not a "candle in the wind".

The Beatles hold up musically, even if people "dont get the hype"... its not hard to look and see the impact they had on music and multiple industries both directly and inderectly.
Psycho and the Exorcist are still scary and effective films even for how dated they are...because they were extremely well crafted films.
