(Barron's)   Apple's market cap is approaching $2 trillion (with a "T"). Why don't they just buy the damn virus and put it out of our misery?   ( divider line

How is this not a man-made Genetically-Engineered virus? Like iPhone, Covid-19 seems to do "Everything"

What makes you think Bill Gates is selling? He can't very well let Apple take over the world :D

Let's shovel more money to China so that the next pandemic releases at the same time as the next iPhone.

P/E ratio is over 30 now, I can remember when it was 10 not that long ago.  Apple can't grow fast enough to meet that valuation.

For the same reason Steve Jobs didn't buy cancer and put it out of its misery, I guess.

A now relative-by-marriage has worked for Apple for years. We got into a discussion about consumerism (a very short discussion, because nobody lasts long), and he's telling me how Apple recycles all its stuff, and how they make things out of recycled products, etc etc.

I said, I don't care. They advertise like crazy, they invented a product that is obsolescent in a year, breaks easily, has a very prominent Brand, so that you must buy APPLE and nothing else (all of its stuff is proprietary, I notice), and since they make a ton of profits, it goes without saying that they are exploiting resources and people to make money for the higher ups, and they're very good at it. Not everyone will go to the devious lengths that Apple and other huge companies will go to, to make bank. Other people and companies have ethics.

Do they use any of their profits to pay off say, miners in South Africa who mine all those rare minerals they use? Do they use any of their profits to make products that will last for years, and not months? Do they make their products in the US, and pay US wages for products that will mostly be sold in the US? Hahahahaa, of course not.

So that was the end of that conversation.

What's the matter, baby, was your iphone obsolete four months after you bought it? Fool you once, shame on them. Fool the entire world for years and billions of dollars--you're all idiots.
