Careful what you wish for.

You know, for folks who push for copyright enforcement and draconian measures to pursue infringement, the GOP seems to have an issue with just assuming folks will be cool if they just "borrow" a tune here and there, even if the artist themselves is the antithesis of their candidate. It's almost as if they don't think that the rules apply for them...

Bee Gees did: Tragedy.

And hopefully we can use It's over by Roy Orbison at the end of this year.

He wouldn't file suit if he couldn't win.  Looks open and shut, but collecting will be another thing.

Southern Man (2009 Remaster)

Southern man, better keep your head.
Don't forget what your good book said.
Southern change gonna come at last.
Now your crosses are burning fast.

Southern man.

I saw cotton and I saw black.
Tall white mansions and little shacks.
Southern man, when will you pay them back?

I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking.
How long? How long?

Southern man, better keep your head.
Don't forget what your good book said.
Southern change gonna come at last.
Now your crosses are burning fast.

Southern man.

Lily Belle, your hair is golden brown.
I've seen your black man comin' round.
Swear by God, I'm gonna cut him down!

I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking.
How long? How long?

Ha ha - I posted on an earlier thread that Young should re-write "Cortez the Killer" as "Kushner the Killer", given that s*** f***'s attitude the CV19 would only affect Democratic states so they should kibosh broad testing and tracing.

CSB: I saw Neil at the Fox Theater in St Louis. Was a great show. He did an acoustic set, then an electric set. During the song After the Gold Rush, there was some dude yelling and acting a fool. Neil stopped the song in the middle of performing and told the dude, somewhat politely, to STFU and that it was breaking his concentration. He explained that it is hard to stay focused and the dude wasn't helping. The guy shut up after that.....oh and there was a guy clearly on ecstasy dancing around when nobody else was that they had to remove. Other than those, was a great show, as I said

I saw him at the Baltimore Civic Center with Crazy Horse many years ago. In his opening acousic set he stopped and asked people to stop clapping along with the song because it broke his concentration. After awhile the clapping resumed, he said "I don't need your money" and walked off.

After 45 minutes he came back with Crazy Horse and they played 3 songs crazy loud and way off key, I mean purposely bad. Assholes were setting off roman candles from the balcony. He walked off and the show was over.

Turns out what happened between sets was a lawsuit threat from the Civic Center, and the 3 electric songs were what his manager told him to do to avoid being sued. He was not sued.

I was a bit of a Young groupie in the 70s and went to every show I could. At my first one I was that guy with his arms on the stage in Winterland in SF.

Fast forward a few years and I was at a show in Oakland and he was playing his third song, Souuthern Man. In the middle he stopped, said "I can't f*cking do this" and walked off. That was the end of the show. We waited awhile until it was clear he was not coming back. They finally announced it to us.

Later on we found out there was someone in the first row who was dancing and a security guard tried to make him sit down. The guard had pulled out his club and hit the guy. All this happened right in front of Neil.

Now we understood the abrupt ending and didn't blame him one bit.

Clearly the only part to Rockin in the Free World that Trump has heard is the title.  Like Springsteen's Born in the USA, it's not anywhere near as great a celebration of how wonderful America is as the title would imply.  And also like Born in the USA, it's been misused by politicians who aren't paying attention.
