Kinda surprised RLM didn't know this one but the Borg were the replacement for the big people as the overplot bad guys. They realized that they'd already pushed the edge of anything they could show with head exploding and changed it. Q just became a convenient way to randomly introduce them.

Guinan was an afterschool special that made contact with the real world.  When Wesley was whining at her after getting his heart broken, she basically agreed with him rather than giving him some saccharine pap or telling him to shut up.  He even said "I didn't expect you to say that".

Troi in a cheerleader outfit, mmmmmmm.

Pretty sure everyone would agree that Troi was more spy and less therapist. She was there to gain a very unfair advantage by knowing what the real emotional status of whoever was in the room was, no matter how good their poker face was

The Changelings were the direct replacement for the bugs. Different 'function' but served the same purpose of an alien race that used impersonation to seize control of 'the good guys' from within. They were the smart enemy while the Borg were the juggernaut, Klingons the zerg, and Romulans the spies.

Am I the only one who loved that episode?  It was probably one of the best tension/horror eps of Trek that I can remember, all the way to the end credits.  The bugs probably wouldn't have worked as constantly recurring villains, but there was a lot of potential for follow-up.  And it's not like Trek didn't have it's share of gross parasites walking around in appealing rides.  The entire premise of SG-1 revolved around evil parasites, and then took it a step farther by making them more culturally complex.

If anything, I was REALLY disappointed when First Contact dumbed down the Borg from an unrelatable alien hivemind, to a bunch of ants following the whims of a vain, snarky, horny, individual with a good Wi-Fi connection.  An influencer, if you will....

That really was sage advice. For a cheesy episode they really stuck the landing. I've given the EXACT same talk to my daughter after her first breakup.

In the UK TNG was initially shown on BBC2, once at 6pm and then later at 11. I only saw the 6pm version which cut out all the icky bits, so we got the bad guy getting fired at and sitting down, then the next shot was Picard & Riker leaving the room. Confusing af

She was the "Director of Choreography and Puppet Movement".  Two other people were listed as choregraphers.

I don't recall seeing her it The Hunt for Red October, though.
