The Odyssey is also the unfortunate star of the second recall, for power sliding doors that may open while driving.

Yeah, that might be a problem in a kid-hauler.

It's not Annoying Goose Game, subby, it's Untitled Goose Game and if my car is showing me Untitled Goose Game then I'm playing Untitled Goose Game in my car.

Debating whether it's handy if you're plainclothes and need to, uh, quickly load someone into the van...

Has Doom been ported to it?

I used to drive an Odyssey, but every time I heard a Siren I crashed it into rocks.

LIGAFF: Has Doom been ported to it?

The head units run a skinned Android version (Kit-Kat is what is installed in mine).
So yes it will play Doom.
With that said Honda's quality has taken a Thelma and Louise type dive. Recalls for electronic stuff isn't surprising to me at all.

The software engineer looks like this. Most of the time.

Yeah, I have had several issues with my 2017 CR-V. None electronic (it's a company car, they went with the base model). The gas door latch failed and had to be replaced.

The shifter lock button just popped out one day. I had to hold it in place with a rubber band. That apparently is a common defect, because when I went to the dealer to get that and the gas door fixed, the service advisor greeted me with "are you here for your shifter button appointment?"

I hadn't made an appointment. The car was out of warranty (barely) and Honda had not issued a service bulletin ("soft recall") or an actual recall. I filed a safety complaint with NHTSA (during the Trump shutdown, so extra crickets).

Fast forward about 18 months, I go in for another problem (turned out to be fuel injectors). I get the car back and look over the service bill. "Performed Shifter Button Recall." *What* farking recall? We already paid for that. Found out the recall was issued about 6 months after mine was fixed.

Even though it was under $100, and not my money, I made Honda go through the hoops to issue a refund check to my company.

whatever I'm on like my 3rd or 4th civic and I plan on getting another one unless there's a nice electric for under 30 grand

Drove my van for 14 years and then got a recall for a software update.  Something about the EGR valve sensor.  Apparently there were several software revisions that year (2004) as well as hardware (instrument cluster), so the dealership couldn't predict how it would work.  Well, I got the "dead battery in the morning" combination.  Jumped it and drove back to the dealership, walked home.  Two weeks later, they had replaced the cluster and everything was okay.

The next day, our Kia cracked its radiator.  One of those months.

And in the not too distant future ti will be touted in a car ad about how it as

"all mechanical instrumentation and driver controls, no software to crash or apps to have to update"

What is "Lotus Notes" and why is it showing up on my dashboard instead of my wiper controls?

Because it's a note from a Lotus about Lucas Electrics...
