Oh, crap. It's August already. It's time to take a shower.

A friend of mine always loved really long baths. Later in life he got a spa tub in his bathroom, and then an outdoor hot tub and he enjoys the living crap out of all of that all year.

Me, no thanks, it's basically warm human tea.

"at least two drinks..." Got that covered.

Alternatively, only one drink is required for a shower and you can drink it while in the shower.

I think I was allergic to it as it would make my urethra itch.

Do Japanese-style bathing, and you'll thank yourself a thousand times over.

Shower first to remove grime and dead skin, crack funk, etc.  Then, get in the soaker tub to relax.

Why stew in your own filth?

If I'm not willing to do it, how can I expect anyone else to?

Personal experience revealed plenty of skin flakes in tub after shower.  An experimental bath after a bath followed by a quick shower rinse-off (which also cleans tub) revealed no skin flakes.

YMMV, again by experience will vary, depending on how hard your water is

No idea.  It'd be difficult to replicate exactly in the US tho.  The entire floor is a wet space with a drain that's shared with the tub.

Even lower end Japanese bathrooms have digital controls that will auto-fill the tub, and the whole room has a built in dehumidifier that replaces the need for a clothes dryer.

You could do elements of that in a standard US bathroom, I guess.

Sounds like the ramblings of an alcoholic who can't afford a hot tub...or friends.
What's her Fark handle?

Yea, my sister was allergic to it, too.

Palmolive dish soap was milder.

I love my Japanese bath. The automatic reheat function is the best in winter. Piping hot water, icy breeze coming in through the open window. Nice.

Once you've showered to "remove grime and dead skin, crack funk, etc" why would you then plop down in a big bowl of water and just lie there?

Because it's as relaxing as any massage you've ever had. It's time to meditate and let your muscles unwind in hot water.
