"Nothing before the T.50 will matter, and nothing that..."

Oh suck my ass you smug little fark. Sure let's just discount over 100 years of performance automobiles and literally all the advancements and effort that enabled this car to exist.
Maybe I've not read enough car reviews lately but the author should be burned alive, his ashes mixed into a paste, fed to his relatives and all of them should be burned alive as well for such a stupid comment.
This car for better or worse stands on the backs of all the effort that came before it and that matters.

rcain: Yes, sports cars look good, but in my experience are uncomfortable as hell. And considering that in most areas, speed limits and congestion mean you'll never get to experience anything near the speeds and performance you are paying for without risking life and limb, or jail -- what the fark is the point?

I'd take a nice comfy Sedan or SUV with room to stretch and nice amenities to help me relax during my drive any day of the week over a "sport" or "hyper" car.

This isn't a car you commute in, and it's way more of a race car than a sports car.  So, yeah this car needs a race track.

What will teenage boys call the objects of their masturbatory fantasy after "hypercar"? I'm assuming that "woman" is out of the running.

A McLaren F1 is another level.

It's a race car and a street car. So parts can _expire_ if you don't drive it.

Set of tires $50K
Replace fuel cell liner $300K (requires car disassembly).

Both required every 3 years (to put it on the track). Must be done by McLaren to preserve car's value.

Mr. Bean put 50k miles on his, daily driving it. Props.

I doubt this car is much quicker than an Atom 2. Faster, no doubt, but who can go 200mph+ anywhere?

When you're that rich you don't race in the streets. Well, some morans will but most will take her to the track.

I used to be (more of) a car guy, who worked with a bunch of car guys. One of my coworker buddies had a Buick Grand National that was, uh, heavily massaged in the boiler room. Aftermarket turbo the size of a sewage pump, drag radials, lower rear end, etc. He let me drive it one day, and from a 30 mph roll, told me to bury it. My vision tunneled out, and by the time I knew what I'd done, I looked down and we were rolling up on 90mph (on a country road).

He said, in that "street tune", it was making about 500hp. I cannot even begin to imagine a car that weighs half that of his GN with another almost 300hp. Lunacy.

/ he ended up having to sell it when he got a reckless op street racing a Mustang

Sweet car, & if I had tons of disposable cash I might get 1. But after spending the last 45-50 years driving pick ups & SUVs, every time I get in and try to drive a car, I feel like my ass is going to drag on the pavement. And this thing is like 3" lower than a average car. Would be fun as hell to play with though.

My issue with cars like this is that of 100 they make, 10 will be destroyed in the first year by overmonied morons, and half will probably never be driven.

More to the point, if you own a car like this...where do you drive it, or more accurately, where do you dare park it?

If you can afford a car like that your can afford access to a track to enjoy it on.

As a supercar owner I can tell you without reservation that you really don't want to give up any organs for it. Even when you can afford it easily it still ruins your day when you pay ten times or more for repairs than a normal car. A couple of weeks ago it cost me $750 to replace a broken mirror bracket - a made in China part that almost certainly cost fractions of a penny to make.

You can rent, say, a Huracan for a few thousand dollars and have a hell of a weekend getaway then walk away knowing it's someone else's maintenance/depreciation headache. For as much as the typical car in this range gets driven it just makes more sense to rent imo.

I oppose the ownership of supercars for the same reason I oppose the private ownership of AR-15s.  Sure you can have a lot of fun in a safe and controlled environment with either, but eventually some entitled asshole is going to try to take his "fun" out into the real world and use it in a manner that results in a bunch of needless deaths.

It has a naturally-aspirated Cosworth-built 4-liter V12 that revs to 12,100 rpm, and it can jump from idle to redline in just three tenths of a second

Yes, please.  In fact that's the only part I need.
