They know what Biden will do to him and they still have downballot races that they have a chance (small) of winning.  They don't want anything to rock the boat, let alone repeatedly ram it into a goddamn iceberg.

I don't think either the Dems or Reps want a debate. Neither candidate is at their peak.  Both have serious cognitive deficiencies.  Both are well into their 70s.  They don't want the resulting shiatshow to jeopardize their duopoly on power.

And he wasn't the best debater, because he was up against some really good debaters. But he also improved markedly after being wrong-footed by the strong attacks on him in the first couple debates, and was perfectly competent 1v1 with Biden.

Biden should be acting like the debates are the best thing in the world. He should be demanding more. Asking for tougher moderators. Begging for wider audiences. Trump's going to either fold and back out on his own, or he's going to embarrass himself. Biden just needs to let it happen.

Then everyone should be asking themselves....

"WHY THE FARK IS THE BIDEN CAMP SEEMINGLY ANTI-DEBATE?"
(Spoiler: Because he won't do well in them. Remember what happened to Hillary in 2016?")

We've had televised debates for 60 years. They must continue because it's the only way a large part of the electorate makes their decisions.

Not holding them is a terrible move. If there are no debates, the incumbent will slam the contender for being a chickenshiat.

It's what the political consultant class would say is the right thing to do because it mostly works.

Of course, what they're really saying, and what too many Farkers don't seem to see, is that they don't want you to see the candidates flaws this time around because they are so glaring.

Trump is no ordinary incumbent. He will make news REGARDLESS of air time. There are millions of non-Dems and non-Reps who only vote in the general election. They HATE Washington DC and will turn out against Biden unless Biden can make a compelling case for change. (Spoilers:  He can't because he isn't.)

All Biden needs to do is beat the extremely low expectations the Trump campaign has set by claiming that Biden is essentially mashed potato in a Brooks Brothers suit, and make a lot of "can you believe this shiat?" faces, which is one of Biden's strong suits.

Yeah, it was amazing to see. Then between and after the debates, her numbers dropped as people saw her in isolation and went "meh" or even "yech". She was a terrible candidate. She was the best choice in the general election by an unfathomable degree and I have permanently lost respect for any and all Trump voters. But she lost to a known sexual predator, business failure, malignant narcissist, and overall moron. He was the second worst candidate in history. She lost to him, making her #1.

What a doughy pantload of horseshiat. Clinton's not responsible for American stupidity or centuries of misogyny.

Only if you believe that American stupidity and centuries of misogyny were the sole causes of her losing to Trump.

Spoiler:  They weren't.

I don't need to see them debate, and certainly not three times. At this point I can accurately predict how Trump is going to behave and what he's going to say. I don't want to hear his bullshiat anymore.

Every time Trump speaks, reply with "That's (x) lies, with a total of (y + x) so far." For the entire debate, just keep pointing out he's lying and the running total. When Biden is asked a question, give the rehearsed message, let Trump reply, and keep saying, "That's (x) more lies. (y + x) lies so far."

Trump will stroke out before the debate ends.

He's plenty qualified. He did like 10 debates during the primary and was the target of everyone else in most of them.

And he wasn't the best debater, because he was up against some really good debaters. But he also improved markedly after being wrong-footed by the strong attacks on him in the first couple debates, and was perfectly competent 1v1 with Biden.

He'll do fine. He'll laugh at Trump a bunch and call something malarkey and he'll get off a couple prepared zingers.

Yep. Biden one-liners dripping with sarcasm. That will really draw a lot of disaffected voters who care about economic issues back to the Democratic camp.

/dripping with sarcasm

True. They would rather hear from someone who wouldn't shut up about them being a veteran.

If Sleepy Joe wants my vote, there's an imminently qualified female PoC who ran for POTUS who is available for the job.

Difficulty: Not Kamala Harris.

The right wingers are already melting down: one that I read yesterday said that Trump should sign an Executive Order mandating at least SIX debates.

You're not going to get that proof from a debate with Donald Trump.

Trump's not looking to get the job of President.  He already HAS it.  As disgusting as that is, it's the truth.  Biden ought to probably have to prove he's able to take over, and say, PRESENT SOLUTIONS to the dumpster fire Trump will leave behind. You know, so people will vote for him.

This talking point has been slowly coming up more in the last few weeks, and I'm pretty sure the ultimate source is GOP projection, trying to make the lack of debates Biden's arrogance and hubris rather than Trump hiding his obvious mental decline (or even just having to defend his own policies to neutral interviewers). The axios interview is proof enough that while a debate may not help Biden, it would hurt Trump, so force him to be the one that cancels in fear.

While that's true...  You know as well as I do that Trump won't even be able to complete a full sentence, everything will be a lie, and nothing he says will even make sense... but Biden will commit one accidental gaffe and every single headline will be 'JOE BIDEN GETS DESTROYED IN THE DEBATES' and 'JOE BIDEN'S MEMORY IS VANISHING.  IS HE FIT FOR THE PRESIDENCY?!'

You know it.  I know it.

It's just not worth it.

Kuta: PainInTheASP: If the debates aren't held, it will be because the RNC and Team Trump have finally talked some sense into the orange shiatgibbon.  They didn't even want to televise the coronation convention. They know what Biden will do to him and they still have downballot races that they have a chance (small) of winning.  They don't want anything to rock the boat, let alone repeatedly ram it into a goddamn iceberg.

There won't be a debates, but it will be framed by the administration as the leftist Chinavirus being deliberately planted in the dressing room shiaaer by immigrant Antifa or some such.

I don't think either the Dems or Reps want a debate. Neither candidate is at their peak.  Both have serious cognitive deficiencies.  Both are well into their 70s.  They don't want the resulting shiatshow to jeopardize their duopoly on power.

By comparison, doddering Ronald Reagan was a youthful 69 when inaugurated.

Bow down before the one you serve.
You're gonna get what you deserve.

Go fark yourself with your false equivalence and neocon talking points. You have more cognitive deficiencies than Biden does.

Biden and his campaign have not only said nothing of the kind, Biden himself has said he can't wait.
