Albino Squid: After all three debates is 2016, Clinton's numbers jumped, because Trump looked like an absolute psycho throughout. All Biden needs to do is beat the extremely low expectations the Trump campaign has set by claiming that Biden is essentially mashed potato in a Brooks Brothers suit, and make a lot of "can you believe this shiat?" faces, which is one of Biden's strong suits.

Yeah, it was amazing to see. Then between and after the debates, her numbers dropped as people saw her in isolation and went "meh" or even "yech". She was a terrible candidate. She was the best choice in the general election by an unfathomable degree and I have permanently lost respect for any and all Trump voters. But she lost to a known sexual predator, business failure, malignant narcissist, and overall moron. He was the second worst candidate in history. She lost to him, making her #1.

Biden gains nothing by debating trump.  Trumpets always twist whatever Biden says to make him look bad.  No matter what it is.

Its going to be weird for there to be a President you can mostly believe again.  Like on factual stuff, a person which will say the truth instead of making stuff up.  It will take some getting use to.

He should not dignify President Useless Asshole with a "debate."

He probably will, though. (shrug)

I think it's a waste of time, but maybe Joe will salvage something out of it. Still not watching. I'll catch the highlight reel the morning after.

We're going through that in WI here when Evers took over.  It's been kind of nice, not having a flaming moron in the governor's chair, just getting smart stuff done and staying out of the headlines...now if we can just do something about RJ...oh...wait...we can...in Nov.

phygz: emtwo: phygz: Kuta: It's completely connected.  Watch the video and learn why.

They won't watch the video because it will challenge their propaganda-fueled beliefs.

Just like they won't watch this one.

[YouTube video: Hillary's Loss Makes Perfect Sense After Hearing This Man Speak]

Because people are idiots and they listen to the two bigger idiots in those videos? That's the reason?

Yes. Yes, that's exactly why.

"That's why Trump won," is just the new fill-in-the-blank canard. It simply replaces, "Thanks, Obama!" Our country is awash with ignorant hacks who love to proclaim thay [insert personal grievance here] is why Trump won.

Can't get those tough stains out of your linens? That's why Trump won! Gas station on the corner won't take food stamps? That's why Trump won! Underpaid cashier at Starbucks accidentally gave you the wrong drink? You best believe that's why Trump won!, and also I'd like to speak to the manager!

At least a third of our nation thought Trump had a pretty good chance to win, and none of them are Nostradamus. They don't have any special insight or powers of prognostication. Hundreds of millions of us made guesses, and some of those guesses were going to be right either way.

The guy in the video that you linked literally says that people voted for Trump because they understand that immigrants and immigration are good things, and not problems for America. He says this about the most xenophobic and anti-immigrant American politician since Strom Thurmond died. It's so farking pants-on-head crazy. That's the guy you think I should be listening to for political savvy?

Debates are the opening for the underdog. Traditionally, the incumbent is not the underdog, but is obliged to debate as he or she is in the position of power.

With Trump and Biden, that's inverted, and Trump is still loathe to debate Biden unless he can get some pre-conditional advantage on the debate field. Trump lost the debates against Clinton, but won over his supporters anyway because of both the lurid spectacle, and their built-in dislike of HRC. Trump no longer has those advantages with his base. He's been a lurid spectacle for four years running, and there isn't any dislike of Biden other than the generic dislike of Democrats.

For all the "verbal gaffes" Biden is touted as uttering, he's also quite good at citing specific policy and has also been a pretty able debater, regardless. He is mostly unflappable (unless you veer into the malarky zone), and can rip his opponents at key moments. Trump would be at a big disadvantage debating Biden, but winning doesn't net Biden much. In this case, there's downside for both parties. A lackluster Biden performance could allow Trump to pull closer, and Trump will probably be his usual terrible self.

Expect Trump not to agree to any debates without disadvantaging pre-conditions, and then tout that Biden is afraid to face him.

anjin-san: The fact that there won't be a live audience should have a significant impact on any debate style that is more about the show than the substance.

Isn't Trump going to get at least an applause track and a laugh track, and a boo track for Joe Biden?  How can you expect him to debate somebody without them?

I vehemently disagree with you there.

Because of his association with Obama, GOP voters despise him. He's almost as bad as Hillary Clinton in their eyes.

Do not fool yourself. The "generic dislike of Democrats" is a way to soften the palpable anger progressives hold toward Biden.

Then maybe you should explore the OTHER reasons which were second tier and still could have turned the tide if Democrats had bothered to address them.  Watch the videos....I dare you.

In last night's debate, President Trump asserted that former Vice-President Joe Biden plans to use the funds gained from both raising taxes 1,000,000% and completely de-funding all law enforcement to construct mandatory gay wedding chapels, abortion clinics, and FEMA camps to imprison all white people, because he is an agent of the reptilian aliens from Alpha Centauri.
