I tried my absolute best, but I couldn't capture all 5 at once. In their heyday, they had 4 incredible puffy mullets and a drummer who had to wear a hat in shame.

Here's all but one:

Trust me that the 5th guy has a puffy mullet, too.

Regardless, Bruce Hornsby and the Range put out quality music.

I should have just gone with the record cover:

The saddest part of this is that Sean farking Hannity uses it as bumper music without any sense of context.

When Hornsby says "Get a job. . .", he doesn't say it like you, farkface.

"Sampled or re-recorded in nearly 20 hip-hop tracks."

That's pretty good but "Big Red" by the mostly forgotten 60s band Mountain has been sampled 759 times. And1625 songs have sampled "the Funky Drummer" and that's not even the most sampled song.

Yeah, but those were songs from the genre that is preferred by hip-hop.

I've long thought the song to be annoyingly fatalistic.

I saw the Dead in ,'89.  Hornsby was a special guest who was touring with them at the time.

Yet surprisingly realistic given current events.

And by 'current events' I mean, the same old shiat that keeps on happening.

You can also add anything by Parliament/Funkadelic/anything George Clinton wrote to that list.

He doesn't demand royalties for samples, just credit.

They should play it at NFL games, replace the National Anthem, etc.

And it samples what sounds like Thriller on the bass beat.

Never cared for Hornsby. To me he sounds like a low-budget Jackson Brown.

I saw them with him several times in 1990. He took over piano for a while after Brent Mydland died. He provided a bit of a spark that they really needed at the time.

He spent too much time trying to goad Jerry into play Dark Star.
