This is exactly what the Lincoln Project wants.  Trump's hangers-on trying to soothe the toddler-in-chief, instead of actually campaigning.

Why not spend money on ads on the Gorilla Channel?

Even his handlers are stupid. Make a DVD with lots of fake news, footage of cheering crowds, fake polls (Hannity would do it for a few bucks), and put it on repeat. He'd never know.

Precisely.  I'm fine with this. Every dollar they spend in a no-hope market like DC is a dollar they aren't spending in a state where they need it, or funneling into his pocket.  And as an added bonus, it makes him look like the helpless, weak little biatch he is.

Texas has broken hearts before.

I worry, because people are relying on polls about approval, and so many Texans will vote purely on the basis of party loyalty. The term "yellow dog Democrat" came from Texans' willingness to vote for a yella dog (in Texas, that's a mongrel farm dog not particularly trained for any purpose) as long as it's a Democrat. When Texas went GOP, it's because people took that rabid political loyalty and just applied it to the GOP. I'm not sure approval ratings are great indicators of voting.

And Abbott and Patrick are thinking long and hard about the most effective methods of voter suppression.

Of course. And it will still likely squeak through for Trump this time too. But he has to compete. And that means he's spending a ton of money there (and Georgia and Arizona and North Carolina), which means he has to raise more or not spend as much elsewhere. If we win, we win. But even if we lose, we still win.

No, the GOP Noise Machine.

They're incredibly good at persuading people not to listen to any other information. Trump supporters I know (and you can see this on FARK) are completely unaware of any of the proof that he is corrupt, incompetent, suffering from dementia. They choose to ignore it.

It's like Stalin's wet dream. People who choose to survive entirely on the party propaganda.

ArkPanda: They would also be seen in Maryland and Virginia but I'm not sure that's much better.

DC market also includes the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, but if they're "competing" in WV they've already lost.  The only way this ad buy makes strategic sense is if they think Virginia is competitive, but Biden's up by 10 there.

Dipshiat doesn't care if he wins.

Spending more means raising more.
Raising more means his rake is a higher total.

Win or lose, Dipshiat Donnie makes millions more.  While Americans die by the thousands.

How's that $1200 holding up, MAGAts? Almost gone? Well, you might see another one.  Maybe.

Well, no, what the Lincoln Project wants is to rehabilitate the image of the GOP and pretend that Donald Trump was an anomaly, rather than the logical endpoint of Republican political philosophy, so in 2024 the neocons can worm their way back into power with their slightly more subtle evil.

I think I speak for many trump-haters when I say that every time I see one of his ads, my mind is exploding with, "That'a s lie.  That's not true.  What a load of crap.  Fark you, Trump!"

In no way is one of those ads going to make any of us think, "Oh, well, I didn't know THAT about Biden.  I'm voting for Trump!!!"  That just isn't gonna happen.

tldr;  They are actually making people angry.  And they KNOW it too.  The Conservatives LOVE to see liberals get angry.

stoli n coke: The campaign is having to pay for ad time as a way of making sure Wittle Donald gets his binky.

Remind me again, Pubs, why y'all think this is some kind of macho tough guy?

Because he's so fearless as is demonstrated by his being completely unrestrained and not respecting any boundaries.

I'm a Christian, but I have to admit that, for a lot of Christians, God is just them with all the power they can imagine. (This isn't new--here's 17th century New England porn, about getting to sit in judgment with Christ and tell every person you've always envied that they're going to Hell).

For a lot of people, Trump is who they would want to be if they could be free of accountability. They love him because they wish they could be him.

They can only be persuaded not to support him if he is publicly shamed, or they are shamed for supporting him. While normally I'm an advocate for taking the high ground and arguing things rationally, with Trump supporters, I think shaming them for being unable to support him rationally is the right strategy.

Clarence Brown: FlashHarry: King Something: battleground states like Texas, Arizona and Georgia.

God, I love seeing those words.

Texas has broken hearts before.

There are several categories of support in states. I like to think of them like this:

- Solid R: They'll vote R no matter what
- Vulnerable R: Will vote R unless Ds dump a ton of money into it
- Soft R: Will vote R if Ds don't put any money into it, if they do, it becomes closer to a turnout game
- Swing R: Will vote R if they advertise more
- Tossup: Advertising can move voters but the end result will depend on turnout
& then Swing D, soft D, vulnerable D, solid D on the other side

The goal is to convince your opponent that as many states as possible are in the Soft category, & that if you take out a small ad buy in a state like Texas, they had better counter it with an ad buy ten times as much. That way you can force your opponent to spend millions of dollars in a ton of states on things like focus groups or tailored messages while you just pump out generic ads in those states & save your high value ad buys for the states that really matter.

Clarence Brown: No, the GOP Noise Machine.

I am talking about how this sniveling pile of bloody snot made it beyond middle school without getting the unholy shiat knocked out of him, this is the direct result of absolutely no corrective lessons learned through consequences.
Trump has lived his entire life getting away with everything.
The GOP noise machine doesn't come into what I was getting at.
