He's one of the few actors that longtime background extras in Hollywood consistently praise. Apparently he's really nice, genuinely loves to talk to people he hasn't met and learn about their lives. Legend has it that he would hold up filming on the West Wing just chatting with the background extras.

Average story bro:

Back in college, I drove past him while he was waiting outside a Ralph's grocery store in Malibu.

He's illusive as Robert Denby.

And his brother helped make Rollergator.

/so he ticks boxes relevant to my interests

No idea what he's selling, but he's hilarious as the crazy old guy at the drug store in commercials lately. He's probably a little old to pull off Frank Drebin in a Naked Gun remake, but he's appears to still be sharp enough mentally. Good for him.

More "things I learned yesterday and dropped on Fark today" - Sheen admired Catholic televangelist archbishop Fulton Sheen so much he named himself after him. (It's also in the wiki.)

The first few seasons of West Wing when Aaron was directly involved was some of the best television there has ever been. Martin absolutely nailed it (along with everyone around him). I rewatch those first few seasons a few times a year.
Hell, with the way things are, I'd vote for Martin this fall.

If I'm not mistaken, Bartlett was only supposed to be a recurring character at first.  Existing offscreen but only appearing once or twice a season as the series was focused primarily on the WH staff (hence the show's name) but Martin Sheen's appearance in the pilot episode came off so well that they knew they had to make him a regular member of the cast.

West Wing took a really dark turn on the election trail with the shaking babies and kissing hands.

When I was in high school, he and his nephew came into the pizza joint where I was working. My boss was friends with his nephew.  They came in, had some pizza, talked a lot about Dayton and left.  He was just laid back and as nice as could be.

President Bartlet, oh hell yeah. Add his whole damn cabinet, too.
