alechemist: So I'm guessing that those speedways would be converted into 7-11s. Most 711 stores ive been to aren't really that impressive. Heck a Gettysburg location closed due being across from a sheetz.

7-11s in the US are an absolute joke compared to their stores in Asia

ecmoRandomNumbers: Stoners are the most fun people to hang out with at The Sev.

Here in Arizona, it's Circle K. And strange things are always afoot.

After other markets reduced their hours due to this virus that's been circulating, I have been finding myself relying on Circle K for resupplies of drinks.
I can say that... yes, something is totally afoot there.

/be excellent to eachother

Catlenfell: scumm: In Mpls, SA/speedway bought out all the local 7-11s about 25y ago.  This resulted in a number of cases where there would be an SA directly across the street from another (previously a 711).  Bonus csb: 3 speedways within walking distance were torched during the riots.  Still plenty around.

The Minnesota franchisee went bankrupt in 1989. SuperAmerica bought 66 of their former locations.

...and this last year, Speedway bought SuperAmerica (They just finished rebranding right before the pandemic).
So... will Speedway now be rebranded into 7-11?

Fano: Didn't the Punjabis muscle the Japanese put?

You're thinking of the franchise managers, many of whom are south-Asian. The Japanese are at Corporate.

The weeb in me wishes that I could get microwaveable yakisoba and a pork cutlet from a 711 stateside. Closest thing I can get to that experience is a long distance drive to a Hmart.

From my youtube visits to Japan.

7-11 in Japan is a much bigger thing than USA 7-11.

All the Hess gas stations turned into Speedways. Guess all the Speedways will turn into 7-11.

Idk about anywhere else but every 7-11 I've walked into smells like AC water drippings

All our 7-11s closed. I've got Wawa shops all over the place. Better food, nicer stores.

Sometimes I could really go for a 7-11 chili dog tho. I miss the "truckstopper" too.

all the 7/11's and Circle K's around here either closed or had to seriously up their game when Wawa came to town a few years ago. in that regard, competition is good even though I still prefer Wawa over either of them.

/could really go for a Wawa sub and milkshake right about now.
