Well, that is the most baffling headline to date.

Stoners are the most fun people to hang out with at The Sev.

Here in Arizona, it's Circle K. And strange things are always afoot.

So I'm guessing that those speedways would be converted into 7-11s. Most 711 stores ive been to aren't really that impressive. Heck a Gettysburg location closed due being across from a sheetz.

7-11s in the US are an absolute joke compared to their stores in Asia

Strangely the Speedway across from my apartment replaced a 7-11 when the property owner tried to jack up the rent on said 7-11. The property was vacant for over a year until Speedway showed up.

As previous commenters noted, it pales in comparison to a 7-11.

The weeb in me wishes that I could get microwaveable yakisoba and a pork cutlet from a 711 stateside. Closest thing I can get to that experience is a long distance drive to a Hmart.

One of the few things I miss on the west coast is Sheetz, but whenever I travel back to the eastern half of the country, I've noticed that Sheetz quality decreases in direct proportion to how far away from Altoona they are, so their refusal to expand too far has probably been a good idea. Every PA Sheetz I've been to has been pretty good, but once you get out of state, they start going downhill. The last one i was in, in Raleigh, NC, was bad enough that if it was my first time at Sheetz, it would have been my last.

In Mpls, SA/speedway bought out all the local 7-11s about 25y ago.  This resulted in a number of cases where there would be an SA directly across the street from another (previously a 711).  Bonus csb: 3 speedways within walking distance were torched during the riots.  Still plenty around.

Grabbed a bottle of fruit juice at a sheetz in north Carolina then chugged it down couple miles down the road. Thought it was a little off, looking at the expiration date , it should have been pulled off the shelf 2 months prior.

The Minnesota franchisee went bankrupt in 1989. SuperAmerica bought 66 of their former locations.

all the 7/11's and Circle K's around here either closed or had to seriously up their game when Wawa came to town a few years ago. in that regard, competition is good even though I still prefer Wawa over either of them.

/could really go for a Wawa sub and milkshake right about now.

All our 7-11s closed. I've got Wawa shops all over the place. Better food, nicer stores.

Sometimes I could really go for a 7-11 chili dog tho. I miss the "truckstopper" too.

Reading the acquisitions timeline, I'm thinking that just as all restaurants one day will be Taco Bell, all convenience stores one day will be 7-11s.

All the Hess gas stations turned into Speedways. Guess all the Speedways will turn into 7-11.

Idk about anywhere else but every 7-11 I've walked into smells like AC water drippings

Im closer to Philly, in Wawa territory. The only people that go to 7-11 seem to be those that need their nic fix in the mornings. They are all old, run down, and just feel grimy. Most don't even sell gasoline, although 7-11 acquired Sunoco's corporate gas stations last year or two as well, but have only noticed a few conversions of the mini Mart's to date.

You're thinking of the franchise managers, many of whom are south-Asian. The Japanese are at Corporate.

7-11 always seems to get unique, limited time weird-ass snacks, and always sound like something i'd want to try...   I've never seen a 7-11 in indy, but it looks like i'll be seeing a lot of them very soon.

Ditto. Nothing better than being able to roll through, get a couple of things and leave satisfied.

7-11 is just now starting to make a comeback in my area after being absent since the late 80s, so they're all new and shiny.  Speedway stores are bottom-tier in regards to condition and cleanliness. Curious to see how this turns out.

...and this last year, Speedway bought SuperAmerica (They just finished rebranding right before the pandemic).
So... will Speedway now be rebranded into 7-11?

After other markets reduced their hours due to this virus that's been circulating, I have been finding myself relying on Circle K for resupplies of drinks.
I can say that... yes, something is totally afoot there.

/be excellent to eachother

From my youtube visits to Japan.

7-11 in Japan is a much bigger thing than USA 7-11.

Speedway replaced the NOCO stations here just recently. Looks like rinse and repeat...
