Testing only tells you who was uncautious in their masking and distancing.
It lets you point your other efforts more effectively, but you gotta mask up and stay the fark apart FIRST.

Trump gets tested numerous times per day.  Anyone who comes in direct contact with him gets tested first.  And now they're going to do random testing of all White House staff?

But in several states it's taking 7-10 days to get a test result back, and he's pushing to open schools when his own son's private school is going online-only?

FU Donnie!

Random? Wouldn't it make more sense to do it in a systematic way?

Wouldn't it be cool if we could do this for the whole population with rapid tests, so infected folks could quarantine, we could crush community spread and kids could go back to school normally....just like they are assuring the Exec Branch can function normally ?

Maybe that's why he thinks too much testing is going on.   He knows how many tests he is getting and extrapolates that out to everyone else in the country.

They should also do a random introduction of the virus into the White House so they can see how it travels. A wild introduction of a foreign species into a combative environment. What a great case study. We'll call it Project Box The Blue.

On this note, if anyone needs testing...

Walgreens has a 1-1.5 week wait for the appointment, but results are coming back within 1-3 days.

CVS has near same day appointments, but I'm hearing a ton of people in the same boat with 7-14 day return times or more.

Can't speak to PCPs, mine wouldn't test me unless I was symptomatic

White House to White House staff: We're doing mandatory random testing.

Trump to America: We only have cases because we do testing. If we didn't test, we wouldn't have any cases. We only have cases because we do testing. If it's "random," it can be used as an excuse to fire non-whites or non-Christians while denying them the chance to file a discrimination lawsuit.

In this whitehouse? That number must be vanishingly small.

That is absolute bullshiat in a country like this... It's not like we're at the beginning of this pandemic.  We're in month 6 now.  Testing should be a no-brainer and should be handled!  JFC!

Random is not really defined, it could be random but systematic.

My wife is a PCP. She had a patient come in who needed a test last week, she had to pull strings and probably break a federal law or 3 to get it done and back to her before CoB on Friday to know if she had to quarantine or not.

/she didnt
//wears a full respirator like Umbrella Man every day
///the nurses that made fun of her no longer have jobs

Just in case his staff are trying to evade a positive by not shooting up COVID before the test.

This should have been happening since testing was available.

The same should be happening throughout the military and other key agencies.

Yup. Better strategy to aggressively test staffers than to rush Trump to Walter Reed for an emergency convalescent plasma transfusion.

2020-08-03 2:26:00 PM
WHAT?!?!?

I was assured people only get the 'rona from being tested. The more testing you do, the more people get it. Why does trump want to give the white house staff the 'rona?!?!

Covid testing should be regular and scheduled.

They should make hydroxychloroquine mandatory to take for all GOP aides and staff just in case, many people have said good things

Well duh.  It has to be random.

If the COVID knows about the test in advance, it'll just hide.

Study it out.

I agree with the sentiment, but I don't believe Trump is personally getting tested multiple times a day. I know he and his administration have said that, but I'd be shocked if he was actually even tested weekly. It sounds like CYA BS to me.

Both situations are completely useless, to the point where the testing is a waste of time and money.

In the former, you can't get a test scheduled until you already know you're sick and have spent a week-plus spreading it.

In the later, you get a sample taken and by the time you get the result the answer is meaningless to you. "Yay, you didn't have it a week-plus ago" does nobody any good.

It is imperative, and has been for months, that every single American have immediate and completely free access to infection testing with a sub-24hr turnaround time for results. That we do not have it at this point is a national scandal verging on criminal incompetence on the part of our government. Literally the greatest public health failure any of us have seen in our lifetimes. And not having such a system in place right now, after months of lost opportunity to develop and implement it, is destroying the national economy.

Yeah, that's what he says.  Trump says a lot of things.

Somebody needs to get him to explain the test in detail. He'll dodge the question simply because he's lying. The nasopharyngeal swab is an uncomfortable experience that he would totally brag about as being nothing.

It means that some senior level members refuse to be tested and they don't want to send a memo saying saying who has to be tested, and thus, reveal who is refusing.
