Unfortunately, pretty much every other Republican would. The party has abandoned standards and principles.

They're the party of Trump now. Have fun with that.

Like Collins, I'm sure she'd fall in line.

2020-08-03 10:49:09 AM
Well, I'm sure her and Susan Collins would be "very concerned" and then vote to approve a judge that practices voodoo and makes decisions based on chicken bones (but is anti-choice).

It's what Moscow Mitch tells them to do, not what they want.

2020-08-03 10:50:43 AM
I don't think Romney would either, that makes 2.

2020-08-03 10:55:49 AM
"Would not support it." Until McConnell calls her and Collins into his office, and then she will talk about her deep personal struggle, and then vote party line. With reservations. Deep reservations.

The only people who are not falling into line right now are Republicans in tight races who aren't getting money from the RNC. Because the Trump campaign is hogging all of the money from the RNC. Anyone who is going to need money from the RNC in a couple of years or more is going to toe the party line.

In a functioning democracy that is not spiralling toward a hot civil war, it would be a given. After pulling the stunt Republicans pulled with Garland in 2016, virtually every senator would agree and there would be no question that they would apply the same rule here.

Instead we are looking at a possibility that one or two vacancies could open up after a landslide defeat of Trump in November, McConnell would don that "ain't I a stinker" smirk and push through nominees for both vacancies at lightning speed, the nation would literally burn in outrage... and MAYBE two GOP senators would refuse to fall in line.

Yeah, we're a failed state.

The shiat she says. So cute.

"I would not support it.  Wait, what's this?  A $5 Billion appropriation for my state?  Well, you know now that I think about it that whole 'not in an election year' is more of a guideline than a rule..."

This, the last 2 times it happened.

We're 90 days out from an election in the middle of a pandemic and the entire country is a powder keg.

Y'all want to get the rudest awakening of your lives? Law and order already doesn't mean shiat anymore. They pull out the stops and the train goes off the tracks, they think they're not on the same train as the rest of us?

All right. Go ahead. Try it.

Hey, that's not fair, Collins might be moved to write an editorial expressing mild reservations about the process

Words are cheap, and she's proven hers are particularly cheap.

I just don't believe her. She says this now, but she'll fall in line when the rubber hits the road.

She will as well, just to fall in line and stack the court.

I don't care if twenty of them say they won't, Rethuglicans will replace a justice even in during a lame duck session.

They will all still be there until the last week in January to fark shiat up

Deep reservations in a Koch doomsday bunker just in case the poors do eventually rise up.

If a democrat is in office, they cannot appoint a Supreme Court Justice unless the stars have aligned under the light of a full moon, and the stag father has accepted our offerings and consummates with the nominee. It's in the constitution.

Fark her and fark the GOP.

Do you want headlines like "Random Democrat finally snaps and guns down hypocrite Senator" ? Cause that's how you get headlines like that.

The Senate's current session end at noon on January 3rd, when the new Senate takes over.  They would have to either finish or start the process by that date, depending on which Senate gives the Republicans more votes.

I may be a crazy conspiracy theorist but I'm thinking that she's hoping that RGB stays healthy until early 2021 so she doesn't have to put her money where her mouth is on this. This is just an attempt to appear as a reasonable Republican and give her some breathing room when the country hopefully starts to detrumpify six months from now.

Good ol' Murkowski, always ready to take a principled stand when it is meaningly less and it won't impact the outcome that her party wants.

Fark her sideways with a rusty crocodile.

My favorite is still when Murkowski and Collins voted yes to advance Betsy Devos out of committee (on a party line vote when their votes were needed), then both of them voted against her nomination (when their votes weren't needed).

Good GOD I can smell the concern coming off that tweet.  Her and Collins, so concerned!!!!1

Then the vote comes and it's time to fall in line.

How can you assholes live with yourselves?

No it isn't.  She would do it no matter what she says.  She a lying liar who lies.

Yes, it would be a double standard.
Do I think any republican would ever tell the truth or give two shiats about keeping their word?  No, even thinking that the question needs to be asked is stupid.

She will continue to suck the trump mushroom until the election.

There is a small chance that one or both of the would vote against a nomination in the full Senate, so long as there are enough yes votes in hand.

Actually, a new Congress takes session on January 3, not January 20.

If Trump was smart, he'd have increased the bench to 11 judges in 2017 when the GOP had the House.  I don't know if he can do that now?
