No contact delivery has been going wrong for me for months. Apparently delivery drivers are incapable of realizing there are more than one building in an apartment complex.

The scumbags that live at 320 something St. Apt 6 get TONS of free shiat, meant for 322.

I'm not bitter though.

/Eventually it gets made right by the delivery service, but who just gets free shiat at their door with the right address on it, and just eats it?

HighlanderRPI: How the Fark do you live in NJ and have to pay a third party company instead of the local pizza place, to deliver a damn pizza?

Yeah, you shouldn't. We were talking to one of the restaurants we order food from, and the owner said that he makes less when someone uses GrubHub than when paying his own drivers. These delivery services don't even seek a contract with a company, they'll deliver for anyone, even if that company has their own drivers and never picked any of these companies to do deliveries. Never used one, and never will, if I have any choice in the matter. It's delivery by the restaurant themselves, or I drive... Most of my favorite places are within 3 miles anyway, so it's silly to pay a delivery charge.

Leave food at my door I didn't order, it gets thrown out. Or if I'm going somewhere I'll take it to hand to a homeless guy at a stop light.

"Fortunately, she was able to get a refund for her delivery from GrubHub, where she ordered the pizza from, according to the New York Post."

That wouldn't have even occurred to me to try unless the delivery guy screwed up somehow.

I'd just file it under shiat happens and eat what's left of the pizza.

If they called the pizza place they still couldn't give it to you, I expect they'd be worried about contamination.

To tfa, why should grub hub be responsible for squirrels? That's weird. Good customer service I guess, but I'd never, ever ask for a refund or replacement over that.

What are they gonna do?  Return it so it gets thrown in the trash.  It can't be taken back at that point because it's been out of the sight of the driver.

Most of my favorite places are within 3 miles anyway, so it's silly to pay a delivery charge.

I make a point never to use Grubhub or Doordash because I don't want random, unaccountable people anywhere near my food. Absolutely skeeves the fu*k out of me that someone could be picking through my order and eating out of it. It's happened over and over again, according to the media.

At least a delivery driver employed by the restaurant itself has to answer to his/her boss in real time.

But one time I think we got a Grubhub or something like that even though we don't want it.

I called our local pizza place, a family owned company with a couple of locations, not a switchboard or an ancillary company, but the very location I wanted the pizza to be made at, and asked for a delivery as I had done many times before. They are the only restaurant of any kind in our area that has delivery service.

The order was wrong when it came. Items were missing that we had paid for.

I called the pizza place and the manager freaked the fark out, got hyper defensive, the instant I mentioned I was calling about a delivery order. I told him to please send the driver back with the missing items. That's when he went off about how he doesn't have time to send out another driver and I told him we are never ordering their pizza again, that they have lost a 30-year customer. And we didn't order again and now with the pandemic we absolutely never, ever will.

My hubby said it wasn't the usual delivery guy, who was always friendly and we tipped a lot, just some woman in normal clothes and an unmarked car who practically threw the order at him, grabbed the tip, and left - which makes me think the pizza place fired all their delivery drivers and instead were using Grubhub or Doordash and didn't want to tell us regular customers that they had done so. Maybe SHE ate the missing items.

At any rate, it seems you can get fu*ked over by these Grubhub-type people even when you specifically go out of your way to never use their "service".

If you use them, you risk who knows what happening to your food and you also hurt the restaurants you order from.

Really, unlike you, most people have lives. They aren't gonna play detective over your kung pao needles. "I'm in apartment 320. Maybe I should knock on the door of every building with a unit number in the 300s? Maybe I should post flyers?"

I don't know about GrubHub, but DoorDash uses a sticker seal setup now. The container is stapled and sealed with a large sticker at the restaurant. If the sticker is torn or removed when you get the order, you get your money back.

I always prefer to use the actual restaurant's delivery people when i can. Unfortunately there is only one non-(chain pizza joint) in town that delivers, and they have started sending their deliveries through some other service that absolutely sucks.

So DoorDash it is then. $10/month for their subscription, and it pays for itself after 2 deliveries.

"Fortunately, she was able to get a refund for her delivery from GrubHub, where she ordered the pizza from, according to the New York Post."

I fail to see how this was grubhub's problem -- they delivered what she ordered to her door.

If a squirrel had enough time to eat through a box to steal part of her order in the time it took her to waddle over to the door after the delivery person knocked, that's really her problem, not grubhub's.
