I hate this for 1 very selfish reason.

I have a friend who thinks Ellen is on secret house arrest for being a pedophile. I've explained to him how stupid his whole Q belief system is, but this just set me back because if she loses her show, it's further "proof".

I found this collection of Craig's appearances on David Letterman's show (his boss). You can see even in the beginning just how quick-witted he was and how comfortable he was on camera.

Sadly he retired and moved back to Scotland.  He's apparently not even doing standup anymore.

I still watch clips of his show regularly.  He and the guy who played Geoff Peterson (and other characters) are farking hilarious playing off each other.

He's got a reputation for being a HUGE jackass and for treating his crew like shiat. There's a clip with him and Kimmel (can't be arsed to find it right now) where Kimmel calls him out for not even knowing the names of the people who work for him. Corden looked like a deer in headlights.

This.

Because I'm not a fan (I don't hate or dislike Ellen Degeneres, I'm just not into her), I've pretty much been out of the loop on all of this.  So I only read about how mean she is to her staff a few days ago. She's had the talk show for about 17 years and now there's talk of her being replaced? That really seemed to have escalated quickly.

Even if Ellen were as much of an Angel as she makes herself out to be the Cancel Culture club is coming for anyone with enough money to make lawyers raise a greedy eyebrow.
Since noone is a saint I forsee only CGI based hosts with Alexa as the AI very soon.
Humans are fallible, so we need to get rid of all of them before someone needing a paycheck gets offended.

How does it feel to cower in your mind thinking that "cancel culture" is real and is coming for you? Does it hurt to give so much power to something that exists only in the little head that you've thoughtlessly allowed to be filled with dumb shiat from the internet that any rationale being would dismiss after thinking about it for a few minutes?

Actually, no.  Something happened - no one seems sure what - to make the production team a bad work environment over time and she, as the on-air talent, didn't know about it.  So it's all her fault.

People who think she runs the show have no f*cking idea how TV works.  She truly has nothing to do with the running of the show - she just goes out and performs.  It's like saying a Broadway actor is responsible for the entire crew's work environment.

But yeah - someone decided to fight back, and now the people actually responsible are going to be happy to put the responsibility on her.  She's f*cking toast.

It reminds me of the sudden dogpile on Mike Myers after The Love Guru flopped. After years of him just being that affable guy from Wayne's World and Shrek, he was suddenly this control freak monster that the whole industry had hated since forever. It's odd to witness, especially since we all know that the second the winds change and these workplace pariahs can once again make loads of money for the investors, all will be just as quickly forgiven and forgotten.

I'm sure they'd be willing to hate you for a lot less. A free bagel might do it.

FYI: I'm not saying anyone should necessarily feel sorry for Myers or Ellen, just that the sudden out-of-the-blue explosion of people saying how rotten they are to work with feels very similar. I've never worked with either of them, so I've got no insights into how they treat their coworkers one way or another.

You don't have to actually do anything to be given a producer credit.  That's why they invented the term "show runner", to differentiate the people that do the work.

You may want to look up what constitutes "Executive Producer".  Oftentimes they are people who contribute creatively or who provided major financing but have nothing to do with the actual running of the show.

I read an anonymous anecdote about Corden.  Take it for what it's worth.

Transatlantic flight.  First class.  Corden is in the window seat next to a woman with an infant.  The infant is fussy and crying througout the flight and the woman struggles to keep it calm for even a few minutes at a time  Corden manages to put on earplugs and a face mask and calmly naps away the whole flight without ever saying a word to the woman.

End of the flight, passengers are de-boarding.  The woman gets up and tries to get her bag out of the overhead, but can't do it with the baby in her arms.  So she pokes Corden and says "will you hold on to your own farking baby for five minutes, please?"  Turns out, the woman was his wife.
