Also, there was a county or small town north of Houston that in the late 80s got busted pulling over cars because they had Rock / Metal related bumper stickers and searching for drugs.

Eron Otero, who was pulled over for going two miles over the speed limit .

I always drive at least between 10 and 15 miles over the speed limit.  Always and have not once been pulled over doing that.  Driving for 34 years.  I have 3 speeding tickets from when I was driving much faster than that (20 to 25 over).

Cartels that use white drivers are pissed at this news. As teenagers my friends and I would take full advantage of this. Two of us minorities walk into a store and look around on the direct opposite side of the liquor aisle, while our white friend would come in a minute later, steal some booze, and walk out complaining about leaving his money in the car loudly.   The two minorities would just end up just paying for chips or a candy bar.

That's great teamwork and an outstanding use of current racism.

Record all interactions with police, even if they have their camera on. It is listen in every state in the country. Are they rude to you? File a complaint, it stays with them and harms chances for advancement. Do they detain you illegally? Sue them. Search you illegally? Sue them. Police are public servants and must treat the public with respect and professionalism. Video tape them and hold them accountable to this standard, it's the best way to teach them how to behave.

Fort Bend County is now touted as fast growing and diverse, but it was the heart of the Deep South in Texas. It was covered in plantations. After the civil war, white supremacists expelled all the Black elected officials and then set up a White only primary that existed for 60 years. There is still a White supremacist monument a few blocks from the county courthouse.

If a non white driver has more than $20 in cash it's proof they are involved with drugs, right?

"The main supplier of drugs traveling the I-69 corridor is Mexican national drug organizations," Marcaurele wrote. "While we do not target ethnicity it is only logical that if you are performing drug interdiction duties looking for legitimate indicators of potential drug traffickers you would expect that the resultant ethnicity would correlate with whatever ethnicity the drug organizations are using to do this trafficking."

In other words, "we aren't racial profiling we are just profiling based on race".

He was mocking me for using a logical syllogism, but he's not entirelywrong.  Just a little wrong.

What this story shows is where he's wrong.  It's not "police" that racially profile, it's lazy assholes like Gilroy, and they get protected by weak and poorly defined laws that make it impossible to fire them when they do this shiat.  But the very fact that they can use other officers on the same force as a baseline to prove that Gilroy is arresting hispanics at a rate that defies statistical probabilities shows that not all police do this.  Most don't.

Also, this just proves once again that the single most corrupting influence on police is drug prohibition.

That's a good point.  I live where the speed limit is 100 kph (60 mph) and you can cheat 20 kph - no problem.  Parts of Canada have 110 kph limits and I've been told to not try an cheat by more than 10 there.

But 2 mph over?  That's stupid.

That happened to some guy in Toronto. The cops thought he was a dealer, so they pulled him over repeatedly. And never found anything, because he was just a black man in a nice car.

I live in Fort Bend County.  The speed limits are pretty low around here (around 60 max).  It's only in the wide open spaces between cities that you see the super high speed limits.  Everyone on the highways here goes at least 10-15 over the limit.  The cops are the worst speeders of all.  You always see them, even without their lights on, going 20-30 over the limit, far in excess of the speed of traffic.

Looks like I could make a ton of cash as a mule then as a white guy.  Just let them pull over all the Hispanics and I'll drive right on by in my suburban white person SUV.  Maybe wear some socks and sandals to really play the part.  Throw on some soccer ball decals and I'd be golden.

Reminds me of high school too. We used to get our booze while underaged down in Newark. I mean all the booze for the group, maybe $200 or so at a time. Was there once where there was this big black kid trying to buy a 40oz. Cashier made him leave. But us white suburban kids spending a bunch of money had no problem. This is in an almost exclusively inner city like black neighborhood. I guess he was just not spending enough $...
