It's not as easy as they make it look in the movies.

Okay, I get that America locks up a lot of people, but a twelve storey prison?

Jesus.

After a fair trial, if guilty, make the convict traverse to and from the canteen via 12 stories of bed sheets tied together.  Every day.  And after every trip he has new bed sheets he has to tie together.  Otherwise he starves.  If he falls and is injured, it is the will of his god.  Or bad luck.  Whatever he believes.  No medical care for falls from the bed sheet rope.  If he can't tie bed sheet ropes, he starves.  If he Epsteins himself, good.

After a fair trial of course.

Yeah first time I've ever heard of a high-rise jail before. It's located close to downtown Oklahoma City where there's less room to spread out. 13 stories tall.

Maybe the boy scouts should stop teaching bed sheet tying. He clearly had his badge

How bad is it in there that you would climb down a hundred feet on bedsheets?

A lot of places consolidate jails so that each county/city doesn't have it's own. Each locality feeding into the jail contributes to its operating costs.

So in this case a 12 story jail not prison.

Mist prisons are 2 stories or less, as you don't want inmates using elevators.

7 stories to reach terminal velocity for a human as I recall. Anything above that is just as deadly.

There have been multiple other instances of prisoners escaping this very jail, in this exact fashion since it was built. Perhaps the use of GLASS BLOCKS in prison architecture was ill-advised. After several lawsuits and countless problems, they're finally going to build a replacement further removed from downtown.

That, and perhaps they need an actual jailer supervising the trustees who are collecting up the used bed linens and distributing the new bed linens, as well as actually checking the cells to make sure the prisoners aren't damaging the cells with intent to escape at least twice a week.
