The "good" news is the camps at which this happened provide good examples that willful negligence was involved with governments reopening schools. At least when scores of teachers die and students are hospitalized the families will have recourse.

...assuming we can stop the Senate from getting it's way.

Did you know a young boy caught Covid-19 here last year? The counselors weren't paying any attention... They having a furry orgy while those kids failed to socially distance. They should've been watched. Every minute.

Church camp is nothing but brawashing taliban-style BS.

Seriously, all those Y'all-Qaeda camps should be illegal.

So glad I don't have kids to worry about.  They'd probably be college age by now.  I'd be explaining to the oldest why their last year of college is going to be teh suck.  And I'd be urging the youngest to take the worst gap year ever.

Just wait until the 2nd graders start wiping snot all over the desks and their teacher during the first week of school. The poor custodians will be in the hospital by the end of September.

I hope all the parents and politicians who are advocating that schools open on time will find the time to clean school buildings, buses, and the cafeteria. And be available for substitute teaching duties.

Teachers and staff will be getting sick and will be quarantined. There are substitutes who can't even play the right movie that the teacher left for them, who's going to teach trigonometry?

Any idea where this camp was at? Know some people in a neighboring subdivision that sent their kids to one.

That's a bit harsh. It was more like that's her base camp for summer time for the kids like every year.
Yup...stupid now.
But we'll still go up there to her home for Thanksgiving and gay up the place.

The big problem was at Lake Rabun in Northeast Georgia. The other camp on Allatoona only had a couple of cases. but closed anyway.

Um if only the staff wore masks, they had active events indoors (singing in whatever group size), and they didn't open windows for increased ventilation, then they didn't take 'almost every precaution.'  In fact, it looks as though they took very few precautions.  And 24/7 in close quarters is a lot different than 6 hours with actual preventative measures.  Not saying schools won't be a disaster, but that camp was doomed from the start with their crap plan..

My son went to that Y camp several summers ago- it's an old Athens tradition, and actually, kids from all over the state go. I remember reading about the preparations that they were making, and I remember thinking it was going to be hard to *actually* pull it off. It would have been, but it doesn't sound like they tried that hard:

It may turn out that the reason we didn't see a lot of child based transmission was because we shut down the schools, and that's pretty much the only place children outnumbered adults by that much in those volumes. This will be an interesting experiment.

No kidding.  I got to this part,

The camp, however, didn't require campers to wear masks, only the staff, or open windows and doors for increased ventilation, per CDC guidelines. And it allowed attendees to engage in outdoor and indoor activities-like singing and cheering-that also contributed to the high transmission rate, the report stated.

slammed my desk and just gave up.  Too much stupidity to believe.

Dunno about wiping snot but.

CSB time.

When I was in the second grade we had an old biddy teacher who was a strict authoritarian,

She though recess was the only time you could use the restroom.

I had a stomach illness and my parents let the school know.

So I raised my hand and asked to go to the restroom.  She said no.

I  said it was an emergency she said no.

I walked to the door and she grabbed a paddle made me sit down.

I told her I was gonna shiat my pants.

I shiat my pants.

Parents were called and my dad scratched his head and said "So he asked you to go the bathroom, you said not, he explained to you he was ill, you said no, you then threatened him with a paddle when he tried to leave, so he told you he was gonna crap his pants, and he crapped his pants and now it is his fault?"

My dad and mother were huge fundraisers for the school.

Dad looked at the principal and the teacher and the counselor and said "This is outrageous someone needs to be punished, and while you all figure that out you can figure out why my son will not be returning to school.'

Dad had brought me a change of clothes and was very specific that I should leave the shiat smeared uniform in my old locker since the uniform by school rules was not to be worn by non students.

Then we got ice cream.

So yes I shiat my pants and got rewarded with ice cream.

A healthy teen/kid has a 0.0015% chance of dying from Covid.

They've already 'wasted' about 5% of their aware lifetimes to date (call that 10 years and round to 6 months lockdown) being locked down.
They've already 'wasted' about 0.5% of their expected lifetimes (75 years lifetime and 5 months lockdown).

You can argue about 'wasted', but don't convince me, convince the kids.

If you are vulnerable, just treat teens/tweens as typhoid Mary. Same for parents.

The kids are running the streets now, and there is no stopping them. They spent 5 months doing nothing more than attempting a new personal best faps/day score. Now their gonna party.

Of course the media wants to scare them, focus on the one who got really sick. But that's just a scare tactic and everybody knows it.
Last one I saw, 'previously healthy' in the headline. Bottom of the story, got Covid, found out he had Leukemia, died.

If by interesting you mean farking tragic. Opening schools is watering plants with Brawndo because it has electrolytes level stupid.

My wife quit her private school job and we're packing her classroom up tomorrow, so that'll be the end of it for us, but it's still stressing me the fark out like a freight train is about to hit a baby carriage and I'm in slow motion trying to stop it but I know I can't.

And I don't even have kids. Hell, I don't even like them!

You are obviously ancient and have no recollection of how long 5 months is to a 15 year old.

Healthy kids are done, and it's rational from their POV.

My neighbor's kids are having driveway parties nightly (Mom apparently said 'not in the house'). God I hate Krunk. It really is Southpark shiat music.

Your data is worthless, you moron, because none of it's been collected with schools full-blown open. Exposure to increased viral load, potential mutations/adaptations by the virus, inability of kids to be responsibly hygienic ("they are just gonna party"), poor air circulation in classrooms, shiatty school budgets and scrambled half-ass "plans." This is going to be an absolutely epic tragedy and every time you open your stupid mouth or move your stupid fingers you're emboldening the lunatics hell-bent on going through with opening schools.

You'll see exactly what I'm trying to warn you about in roughly a month, but you won't care, because you're a dumbass psychopath.
