(People Magazine)   Shelter workers take in an orphaned new-born rescue kitten unable to walk. They made him tiny homemade splints out of tongue depressors, gauze, medical wrap bandages, and tape to keep his legs steady. The result is anything but depressing on Caturday   (people.com) divider line

Hullo, Caturdayers - just checking in. Intarwebs access was a bit wonky this weekend so I decided to read dead tree books instead.

No way I'm gonna CUOTT this time; hope everyone is well. Didn't want anyone to worry. Other than the unbridled terror of desperately needing some major dental work and trying to choose a new dentist, things are okay here. It's supposed to hit around 110, yet again, so staying inside as much as possible like any sane person would.

Anywho, gotta find the guts to continue researching mouth torturers and hope I find something more promising than I have so far...ugh. If anyone here is/was a dentist or has had experience with implants (esp. 25 year old ones that need a new tooth soonish) or periodontal surgery, any and all advice would be very welcome. EIP, if you prefer privacy (to save a trip it's talktome2112 at outlook dotcom). Financing advice also extremely welcome, though we have dental coverage it kinda sucks.

Still working on choosing just the right pix to finish up our memorial shelf (no fireplace/mantle) to KatieBoo, Maxie, and my long-lost Kira kitty - when complete, will post pix.

Take care of yourselves and will prob pop in here and there as able.

*hugs!* My sympathies. I also have a phobia of the dentist and have to go on Wednesday. I think it's just a checkup, but I thought the last visit was just a cleaning and needles were involved. Are teeth really necessary?

I'm with you - it's like, just knock my ass out, remove the lot of 'em and replace them with implants so I don't have to go through this anymore. (Implant surgery really wasn't so bad, and I had about 1/3 of my hard palate reconstructed post-accident so that's saying something. It's all the crap you have to endure when you're awake that sucks.)

The Ice Queen: So can someone seriously threaten 2020 and make it go EABOD or DIAF (or both).

So today, they told us that they want to get grandpa home on hospice tomorrow. He is starting to go downhill rapidly and if we want him to have any type of comfort (or maybe rebound some by being at home), we got to get him home. So dealing with that. Mom called me this am, said she wasn't feeling good and wouldn't be able to bring me lunch to work. That's fine, I had planned on leaving early anyways to take care of things. I get a text message as i'm leaving that she needs me home. So brain goes to worst thoughts. Turns out, she needs me to take her to the ER. She wouldn't keep anything down and had actually passed out earlier in the day and hit her head in the bathroom. So thankfully, no concussion but severely dehydrated and has a bad case of colitis. Oh, and she managed to pass out again at the hospital when her BP bottomed out, again. So now, her medical and grandpa's medical has fallen on my shoulders because I'm the only one with that background *(other than mom). thankfully, other family members are helping with the non-medical stuff, like taking care of grandpa's dog and getting house ready for him to come home. However, it's like Holy fark!!

Go away 2020!!!

So sorry you're having to go through all this.  Best wishes for your Mom and Grandpa.

Manic Depressive Mouse: Mudd's woman: sherpa18:
Never be afraid to scruff a cat. No matter how hard you squeeze, it doesn't hurt them (despite what some people will say) - I have cared for many fosters/friends & neighbors cats as well as cat sitting - I always have to explain that it's easier on them (natural instinct to relax) and easier on me (less bleeding).

If you have do something by yourself that requires more than two hands, use a Binder Clip to scruff the cat (I recommend Medium to Large for small/regular size cats, and Jumbo for cats the size of Finnegan - I may have a few spares laying around if you need one, lemme know and I'll send it to you).

And as someone else mentioned, use the smallest possible scissors you can find (I use the ones that came with a hair trimmer) it allows you greater range of motion and is a bit less scary to kitty. Best of luck!

Thanks. I am contemplating the binder clip option. Just trying to envision the logistics, considering where the clip will go and where the "issue" is. Hmmm.   Not entirely confident I can pull this off, so to speak.

As with everything in life, there are videos on Youtube. There's probably more if you need different angles; this is just the first I found:

Ah, I'm still trying to remember where people are, only been here nine weeks after all.
We're getting hit with feeder bands from Isaias here in Raleigh.  A little bit of thunder resulted in Tabitha sitting on my nightstand.  She was very glad I tidied it up this morning
