(People Magazine)   Shelter workers take in an orphaned new-born rescue kitten unable to walk. They made him tiny homemade splints out of tongue depressors, gauze, medical wrap bandages, and tape to keep his legs steady. The result is anything but depressing on Caturday   (people.com) divider line

Please welcome Cody!
He's 8 weeks old and 11lbs of floof.

We're still crying over Cooper,  and will for quite some time....  but it's really nice to have something to focus on beside the emptiness.

Welcome Cody!  What cookies did you bring?

Uh oh!  He's too busy exploring his new surroundings!  I think he forgot!

Poor Friday just doesn't know what to make of him.  He's curious,  but then Cody puppy yaps at him and he gets freaked out.  Fri isn't used to squeaky dog toys or yappy puppies!  Hopefully he will settle and they'll be friends before too long.

I forgot to ask but what does Friday think of the newbie?

He's keeping his distance for now.  I think the unpredictability and noise is freaking him out a bit right now.

Friday looks HUGE right now!  😂  that won't last....

Damn. I hate that for you. I would rather be in pain than feel nauseated.
I hope you have something to take to help?

*sigh* it's just girl trouble.  Aunt Flo hits me like a ton of bricks.  It's the worst

Otera: So, has anyone ever gotten Silver Vine for their cats before?

Indeed yes! And with mixed results.... mostly non interest. But then again, most of my scavengers don't really get into catnip (home grown just for them) unless they are in a mood. Boogers...

Everyone who was concerned about me: I'm feeling better.  Sorry, Aunt Flo just sends me through the wringer.  I went back to bed and Mao applied herself topically, allowing me to get back to sleep.

It's been a rough summer.  We knew that our two girls were getting older, but you're never prepared for how sudden it is.  You all might remember we lost Luna in early June.  Yesterday morning we heard Minka cry out in some serious pain, and she was almost paralyzed in her cat bed.  We rushed her to the vet and found out she was in heart failure.

She was Mrs. Samurai's cat since she was a junior in college, 17 years ago.  We put her to sleep yesterday, mercifully without as much suffering as her adopted sister went through.  It's our third loss in 15 months.  We knew years ago that adopting several the same age meant a risk of this happening.  Napoleon and Chairman Meow are struggling a little.  Lebowski seems to be taking it in stride, though, which is shocking considering how close he was with Minka.

I am so sorry for (both of your) loss. So closely together is a gut punch. I lost Aria  and Ninja in 3 months, after 13 and 18 years, respectively. It hurts. *hugs to you both

So sorry for your loss. It is never easy. And I think it is especially hard when they follow one after the other over the Bridge. Many years ago I had to put my meezer to sleep. Kidney failure. Her companion died in her sleep, a week later to the day. I guess she didn't want to be alone. Don't be sad, I loved them, and they knew it, and when I had healed a bit, we were picked by Eli the Bitey.

Is kidney disease really prevalent in Meesers? Little shiat died from it, too.
