What's the point of aspiring to a position of power and authority if you can't dump on the little people?

Trifecta in play?  What's the first article?

rcain: NM Volunteer: Trifecta in play?  What's the first article?

Actual first paragraph FTFA:

"With both the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit and the Detroit Institute of Arts beset by scandals involving their directors, the crisis at the former, at least, has come to a head"

That's two. One more to make the trifecta complete. Hence "trifecta in play"

Ah.  I thought subby was referring to the redlit article about DIA.

rcain: You worked there approximately 7 years. In that time 70 independent parties have spoken up against you

Did 70 independent people over a seven year period file separate complaints? No.
Did 70 very interconnected people file one compliant at the same time? Yes. Way closer to what actually happened.

The nice thing about Brigading, to people like you, is that it is self-justifying. When the accusation alone is justification for mob action and instant depersoning and deplatforming, you do not have a movement for justice, you have an unintelligent xenophobic mob looking to purge all otherness. If you lived there it would be 71 complaints, until you ranted to your friends about - in your words - the "racist piece of crap" that you have never met, in order to try to make it 72.

I live here so this is local to me. Both instances in this article sound a lot like "Go be white somewhere else."

These are "Interesting times" and I fear this is only the beginning.

/Please wait your turn while you defend the mob of justice

Initially, there was an article about a director being fired from the Detroit Museum of Prosthetics. The PhD was let go for making illegal adjustments to the human spine.

Fine art people are some of the worst people I've ever met.

Most people try not to let other people know how ignorant, wrong, or backwards their thought process is. Then there's art people.

People are so farking dumb, they probably were offended that she said certain white painters were masters and took that as racism.  I hope she sues the city and museum, maybe take the collection private.

Me, I'd hope they have an investigation, determine what has been said, and act accordingly.  But that's no fun when we're playing jump to conclusions - the game that's fun for both sides!

I would like to know more about the allegations before saying this is all bunk. This might be 70 people with years of saved-up legitimate grievances striking at an opportune time. Or maybe she's perfect and being victimized by a mob as you say. But it seems rather premature to dismiss the charges as false.

On Wednesday, the MOCAD board fired Executive Director Elysia Borowy-Reeder, following charges earlier in the month by over 70 former staffers and interns of abusive treatment and racial harassment.

The move occurs the same day DIA Staff Action Group called for Salvador Salort-Pons to be removed from his post as museum director.

If they quit hiring people with hyphenated names, they might have less problems.

Never dismissed them as false. Like you, I have no idea whatsoever what the circumstances are. None of us do.

I was only commenting on the brigading shiatposter creating an entire narrative in their head , then accepting it as ironclad fact, then happy that the accused had no say because any investigation was unneeded.

I'm from Detroit-ish...Our area alternative weekly newspaper "broke" the story a week ago. The free newspaper that's hanging on by a thread outhustled vs. giant corporate media.

https://www.metrotimes.com/detroit/dozens-of-employees-at-mocad-and-the-dia-demand-the-ousters-of-their-executive-directors-alleging-toxic-workplaces/Content?oid=24976256

I'm pretty well up-to-date on local news, and it's where I first found about the museum dysfunction goings on.

johnny queso: elysia borowy-reeder sounds like she'd be better served running a library.

The problem is that she's a borrowy reader. She borrows books and then doesn't return them...when people ask about it, she gives them an earful. Hard to make friends like that.

sifumokung: MOCAD sounds like a robot Kirk has to trick into self destruction after it seizes control of the Enterprise.

"Whatever he says is a lie."

"I'm lying to you right now!"

They should have revisited those twin female robots later on...like maybe the Enterprise crew fixed them and kept them around. Hey, they didn't have a holodeck back then, right?

Yes, Coleman Young may be long dead but all the people he put into power are still there, carrying on his traditions of racism.  The worst part is that your typical black Detroiter has put the hate of white people behind them, but since CY hand picked people based on their ability to meet his standards of hate, what you see today in anti-white racism comes from those still clinging to their government positions rather than you're typical student or working class citizen.

What is frightening is to think that they, in turn, as they close in on retirement will follow in CY footsteps and make sure to appoint another generation of bigots into their chairs as they leave.  All cleverly disguised under the banners of "diversity" and "inclusion," of course.
