How... Obviously predictable.
It's almost as if stonks can be magically manipulated.
I wonder if anyone could have known he would say that and did they position themselves to profit from it?

I hope all the rest of you got the email to buy Kodak, otherwise this seems about as corrupt as you can get.

Completely unrelated.

I'm sorry, but why Kodak?   It's not even in the top 10 of US chemical manufacturers.  DuPont is 40 times larger by revenue than Kodak.

Because someone Trump or Trump adjacent has a large stake in it. Guarantee it. This is a grift, not an attempt to help America do anything.

Right wingers are incapable of acting for the benefit of America, so there is a grift happening here.

Also, take a small stock and give it an enormous boost... voila! Double your money quick. If DuPont or Dow Chemical or a big pharma company had been given the contract, it would barely impact their bottom line. Also, the big boys would actually look at the grift and reject it if it didn't fit their plans or had other business impacts... like the appearance of being in bed with this administration.

Buy low, sell high.  All you have to do is see who made the most money off of this on stocks, follow the money trail. They were awarded the contract based on backdoor deals. End of story

Kodak has been on life support for some time now, ever since digital cameras came into the prime photographer's spot, so it's a no-fuss thing for them. They have fewer conflicts about doing this than DuPont, who likely would have to cut other production that matters for this. Kodak may look to wholesale jettison their legacy with this.

They're desperate, almost trading on the penny stocks, and probably would give him a huge kickback? NOTHING Trump does is for anything other than self-interest

Market manipulation aside, this is great use of socialism in medicine. Seriously.

The government should be using it's power to coerece businesses to produce generic medicines. Or, even better they should just manufacture them themselves. A national manufacturing and distribution system should be set up and the drugs sold at cost, or subsidized through tax payments to a lower cost.

Generics are not always the best treatment option but they often are as, or nearly as, effective as name brand and far more cost effective. Combined with changes to patent laws to remove abuses and with a change in law to require that doctors/pharmacists to provide information on generic alternatives for treatment we could do a lot to reduce the costs of prescription drugs and do a lot to make it so many more people had access to drugs that would improve their lives.

Because Kodak's stonk wasn't worth shiat, and somebody could put in buys for a lot of it cheap just before this happened.

It would be, if this was anything other than a Trump pump and dump scheme. I doubt any chemicals will actually be produced as a result of this; most likely, we will never hear about this again

That's it.  I'm announcing a meth lab in the building.  That should make real estate values double.

Oh good, I feel so much safer that a manufacturer of acids and poisonous heavy metal salts is now going to make a magical elixir of goodness in less than a year.

I guess since human sacrifice didn't work for Trump, a snake oil contract is the next logical step.

what else was Kodak going to do?  develop some photos for America?  Maybe they were the only ones with idle production capacity to do it?

The main chemical manufacturing part of Kodak was spun off into its own company in 1994:

So it's really just a mind-bogglingly weird decision.

This is the sort of seems obvious to me stuff:

Kodak shares soar 300% in wild ride after Trump taps the former film giant to make drug ingredients
That says the entire stock market is just a made up sham of bs to soak money from people.Company shares soar and amazing 300% when a loudmouthed yahoo that happens to have a  seat of power, but they carry a reputation to rarely follow through on anything, when they claim they are doing something that involves this company.A company that did business X, being involved by this unreliable person to do some basically barely related business, and that has any immediate major influence on the value of the company?THAT IS LIES, THAT IS BE, THAT IS MADE UP FANTASY CRAP FOR STUPID PEOPLE.
