Oh, great. He's one of those. He's saying it's necessary for the Jews to be in Israel, so that they can be mostly destroyed in nuclear war, and then there will be fewer to convert, thereby bringing back Jesus.

He's also full of shiat about slavery.

2020-07-28 5:06:00 PM
So that about sews up his reelection, being from Arkansas and all.

2020-07-28 5:07:48 PM
Sheesh, of course, Tom Cotton.

2020-07-28 5:09:21 PM
Cotton went onto to describe how Jesus would appear in "the clouds of glory" during the battle of Armageddon "during the 70th week of Daniel." Cotton did not specify exactly when that would be.

Fairy tales and delusions. People who talk like this generally need treatment and medication. In Arkansas, they make you a senator.

I want out of this country.

Clarence Brown: He's also full of shiat about slavery.

Necessary evil == how we rich folks got rich. His comment is a reflection of his views on class in the US more than anything else.

Appearing earlier today on the Fox New Channel's morning show Fox and Friends, Cotton justified his remarks, arguing that "absent the Holocaust, Israel would not be a country today."

Pretty much says it all.

Tom Cotton doesn't believe that shiat for a minute. But he knows the dumbasses who vote for him -- or would vote for him in 2024 -- do.

It's dumber than that.

He believes that, since the US turned out to be God's country, and will help Israel in its apocalyptic war, then everything that happened in US history had to happen--since it got us here.

So, God couldn't have created a series of events that would get us to that point without slavery or the Holocaust?

Cotton doesn't imagine an actually omnipotent God.

Hmmm... Cotton is a useful plant....

You know what? That phrase works both ways.

Pretty soon we're gonna hear Tom Cotton say, "listen, all that molestation I committed when I was younger was a necessary evil."

dionysusaur: So that about sews up his reelection, being from Arkansas and all.

He's running unopposed in the general election. The Democratic candidate dropped out a couple of hours after the deadline for replacing him with another candidate.

I have a crackpot theory that had the Holocaust/Germany's rise not happened (i.e. the hitler-killed-by-time traveler scenario), the USA would have had Germany-style fascism decades ago. So in that sense, maybe it was a necessary evil to prevent a "North American Germany" from going nuclear while waving a star-spangled flag. We would have been much harder to contain compared to Germany.

At least that's what I would have said before Trump, who might make it happen anyway if we're not careful.

That's being very generous about what's between his ears. Frankly I think he just has calcified trumper jizz up in there.

Annnd he finally went too far even for his own team. Good.

Yes, but the DNC would like to give you a low interest loan to fight the holocaust.

Ironically, it will be only white people picking him in November.

/self-reported

Keep digging that hole, Senator. First one foot in the mouth, soon followed by the other. He just lost the Jewish vote in Arkansas, all 6 of them.

2020-07-28 10:07:01 PM
As opposed to Republicans, who are merely unnecessary.

2020-07-28 10:07:10 PM
Can't argue with people whose firm belief is "We can do literally anything because God said and we're his favorite, he told us so in our heads." Really, there's no arguing with that level of delusion and crazy. People that far in just need to be taken out of positions of power so they can't do as much damage, and we need to beef up public education, especially in sciences, so this shiat stops.

2020-07-28 10:07:17 PM
The current GOP has done more damage to the prestige of the Ivy League than any other event in history.

Business Coup of the 1930s.  Interestingly enough, it involved some of the richest people in the U.S. at the time using disgruntled vets (the Bonus Army from WW1) to seize control of the government and kick out FDR.

A lot of parallels between then and now for the U.S.  Hell, we have more than a couple of Richard "actual neo-Nazi" Spencer on this site.

From the way most Christians act their god is a weakass snowflake who can't take criticism.

After co-host Steve Doocy pushed back, pointing out that, "thanks to George W. Bush, Iraq is also a democracy," co-host Brian Kilmeade reminded viewers that Cotton had served in the infantry in both Iraq and Afghanistan, which, Kilmeade said, is, technically, a democracy as well.

That not "pushing back".  Pushing back is "Hey dumbass, murdering 6 million innocent people is not necessary.  It's the greatest tragedy in recorded history".  Pushing back is not "you forgot Iraq".

So a piano falling and crushing his head would be a necessary good?

Or him never being able to show his face in public without ridicule and threats of bodily harm also a necessary good?

I'm going with yes. Fark this racist, fascist, Trump-sucking farkwad.

Yeah, that kind of rhetoric is too on the nose for your typical political hack.  Plus isn't he a teahadist who primaried his predecessor over climate change?

Really, World War II was a necessary evil because, if the Japanese hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor, my dad wouldn't have served in the Pacific and then returned home and met my mother.  Why do Republicans vote for so many stupid people to represent them?  Oh, never mind.

"Necessary evil" is when all of your options are shiatty so you pick the less shiatty one to prevent the more shiatty one.  For example, mask mandates are a necessary evil because the alternative is mass death and total economic shutdown.

The alternative to slavery was a bunch of rich, white people would be less rich.  Which, to a Republican, I can see how they'd consider that to be the Worst Possible Thing.

Wow, when I was arguing the slavery is a necessary evil thing I. My head one of the arguments against was:

"What you going to tell me that the Holocaust was necessary because it allowed for the creation of Israel."

I never considered a scenario where my imaginary opponent said "yes."

2020-07-28 10:15:07 PM
Holy shiat when I saw that earlier today I thought it was satire. I really, really did.

Turns out, he's exactly that stupid.

2020-07-28 10:15:57 PM
Just making sure: we're all outraged about the "necessary evil" part, not the "without the holocaust there would be no Israel" part, right?

The former is utterly disgusting religious teleology, but that's teleology for you. Tom Cotton is a moron and his religious word salad is so stale there's more E. coli than lettuce in it.

The latter is pretty much historical fact, as much as any historical "what if" can be, at least.

Legalize dueling.

Problem: The nuclear bomb probably would never have ever been developed, if not for WWII. So while we may have become fascist decades ago, we'd just be flinging around conventional weapons, and mostly at Canada.

No masks are not a necessary evil, they are a necessary inconvenience at most. The dropping of the atomic bomb was a necessary evil.

/ Please just accept the reasoning behind the bomb in this one instance to demonstrate the point.

He wants the Jews in Israel so that they, being Christ deniers and still awaiting the coming of their messiah, will be followers of the anti-Christ and among those left behind in the rapture and wiped out in the battle of Armageddon.

So he is racist, anti-Semitic and believes in the crappy Tom Clancy book added to the bible.

Problem with satire these days is that there are prominent Republicans who espouse exactly that viewpoint.
