And never a better time to own an MLB team!

EyeballKid: And never a better time to own an MLB team!

He's stuck in Kansas City for a decade.  Even if an MLB team doesn't appreciate in that time, the simple boost in PR will help his sponsorship game and elevate his fandom.

Probably a very small stake. Enough to get an owner's box probably. Still, I'm guessing he was let in for his name not his money. Having him throw the first pitch is guaranteed to increase attendance when that is a thing again.

His father trained him as a pitcher and iirc, he was a college grade pitcher before he went to soley football.

II actually suspect he may have bought his stake in the team to give his dad something to play with. As a former major leaguer himself he might actually be a real asset to the ownership group

When you reach the point where you start buying other teams, it's no longer about the sponsorships.

This has to be the first time in any sport that an active player became the owner of a major team in another sport. Even Jordan had to become an owner first, then come back as a player to pull that off

There are DOZENs of Royals owners. It was a huge consortium that purchased the team from Glass (at an outrageous price too). I bet Mahomes was even given preferential terms. I doubt he needed to kick in much money. I doubt more than a couple million. Probably less than one. The deal is to get his NAME on the owners list. He won't have any control (unless he uses the bully pulpit after another SB win) and probably won't make a lot of money from revenue.

Also, technically Patrick is 11-1 against the AFC West.

Likely. Talk about a great gift for dad!

Yep. Money wasn't important. His name/ presence/ likeness was his buy in.

Russell Wilson has gotta be tired of Mahomes getting things first (aside from a SB ring... bigger contract, MVP. and now he owns a baseball team).

Did he bang Ciara when he was playing in college, too?

Rodgers owns a piece of The Bucks. I can't think of any others, and certainly none that were that young.
