I hate that song.. the local classic rock station has played it to death.

Cool. She jams it out.

Nothing wrong with that guitarist

that was pretty cool for that tired riff. Sophie shreds, this is like Sophie lite.

Subby sounds jealous.

That was some fine shredding.

Overplayed or not, that song always takes me back to high school.  Cruising around town, with my girlfriend (now my wife) beside me... this album playing on the 8-track.  Didn't get much better than that

She's very good. I'd love to be able to play a guitar that well.

/But it's not really all that special.

2020-07-28 7:18:18 AM
I'm impressed by Subby's ability to judge this woman's intelligence just from her appearance (yes, she won the genetic lottery) and guitar playing.

Hate all you want but that first Boston album is fantastic.

Perfectly cromulent guitar playing it seems. Better than most, not as good as some.

Definitely in the upper echelon of pretty

I've been playing guitar for about as long as she's been alive, and I'm not ashamed to say that her technique runs circles around mine.

Although, I do look better in purple eye liner.

If you check out St. Vincent's Instagram, she seems to be having a fun time noodling around by playing Stairway to Heaven and playing along with Steely Dan records.

True and true. Freaking looooove Jamiroquai, who most people only know for "Virtual Insanity," which really only scratches the surface of their talent. So much funk; always great pocket playing.

Apparently that female bassist faced a crowd of skeptical YouTubers who claimed "she's muted on the track, she memorized where to put her fingers but really can't play"... until Jamiroquai flew her in for one of their gigs and had her perform on stage for a tune or two.

It's so damn BC Rich-y.

I've gotten where anything strat-like, as well as clear drum heads, are basically cheating.

It's a rather simple song and its played poorly to boot. I'd say that about anyone playing it, boy, girl, black, white, ...basicalky anyone except maybe a disabled person. But in particular if it's supposed to be a display of being a prodigy...

Both sacrifice resonation for quick attack and decay.  When the right technique can produce the same effect, or close to it.
Not saying everyone should play calf skins and hollow bodies, but I certainly think Miss Airheard would be served playing something other than her purple friend.

Cue "confused dog" expression, as there's more than a third of the video left...?

I wish I had more than one like for that. Overplayed, yes. Of course it is. But there's just something about that guitar part that's filled with hope, looking toward the future with pride and anticipation, even though the subject is a terrible, unrelenting loss, that lasts throughout your life. Both emotions are possible in this song. Go ahead and funny me for being old. It's all still true.

I'd call that an instrumental version, but I'd also be the first to admit that it's been so long since I've played guitar regularly, I have no idea what constitutes shredding these days.

And she's better than I was, even when I was playing every day of the week.
