The only issue I have is the film doesn't emphasize the actual lack of choice. You don't think the Powers That Be don't own the Democrats lock, stock, and barrel? It's all Kabuki.

...which was the point of Carlin's rant...of course, it could be commandeered by Republicans to show that he agrees with them as well. A few spooky pictures of Gates, Soros, terrorists, protesters, AOC, and Nancy Pelosi should do the trick.

That's the trouble with using Carlin's schtick to help your cause: Carlin didn't give a fark about anybody.

/Also, he said the n-word wasn't offensive in and of itself.

A shame he died a bitter miserable old bastard. His stuff from the 70's was night and day compared to his final few rant filled performances.

Carlin's material became less funny and a lot angrier as he got older but remained equally insightful.  It's just that the insight that used to be gentle became caustic.

We should probably all stay home and not vote as protest then.

It's really hard to maintain the "it's both sides, really" narrative when one side is openly supporting police brutality and is telling people their lives don't matter as much as the economy.

While one can argue that both sides are bad, there is no question that one is WAY worse.
Which one brought us Social Security versus which one brought us caged kids.

Exactly. It's the difference between sweet talk and lube, or bite the pillow going in dry with a knife to your throat.

Either way you're getting farked, but one is way more unpleasant than the other.

At least the moderates don't want to choke you to death when they are done with you. They realize it's better for them to keep you alive so they can keep farking you over the long term.

Fark is not your personal erotica site.

Seriously, though, the Biden platform (as was the Clinton one in 2016) is the most progressive democratic platform since the 1930s. I don't understand this notion that both parties both want to fark you. It just seems lazy and ignorant to me.

It wasn't funny. But it was true.

Truth can come from anyone clever enough to see it. Carlin was cursed with intelligence, and perception. You can't have those qualities and be happy, because the root causes of what's wrong with the world are blindingly obvious and technically simple to fix. They almost all revolve around human choice, and when you realize this it's both infuriating and disheartening.

The world sucks because we collectively choose to make it suck every day. Not enough people understand this or are perfectly fine with that as long as it doesn't suck for them.

Complaining it wasn't funny is the weakest argument against what he said. It's one step up from "NUH UH!".

Complete bullshiat, all the way around. You may be unhappy but telling yourself that it's just because you're smarter than all the happy people is self-delusion. And saying that all the world's problems have "blindingly obvious" solutions is just ignorance of complicated issues. You can't just tell everyone to stop being a jerk and everything will fall into place.

Platforms are just that. We'll see what happens. I hope he delivers.

As to your other point we like to have a lot of fun here poking at Reagan for being the real start of the race to the bottom for modern conservatism. We like to point out all the evils conservative embrace.

But there have been two democratic presidents since Reagan and the democrats have held legislative power for a large chunk of the last 40 years. You know, that stretch of time were the American middle class has been systematically dismembered, and resources have increasingly gone to the wealthy?

The real owners of this country Carlin is referring to do not give any farks which party is in charge beyond determining who to mail the checks to.

The D's are the better choice, that's not really up for debate. Better does not equal best. I'm not one to let perfect be the enemy of good, but never forget that perfect, impossible as it is to ever hit, is what drives the determination of what is good and what is better.

The TLDR of this is I prefer the Dems because I have a functioning brain, but many of those motherfarkers helped get us to this point, I'm not about to forget that shiat.

So you used a paragraph to say "NUH UH".

Name a "complicated" issue and I'll give you a simple solution based in human choices that will fix it. Bring it.
