We all expect the republicans to cheat like hell.
What we're hoping is that Biden is so far ahead that their cheating won't matter this time.

He's losing badly in electoral votes, not to mention the popular vote.

The problem is that he's continuing the damage the country and kill Americans, and it's getting worse.

I dont think people are able to envision just how much a clusterfark voting will be this year. There is going to be massive disenfranchisement through technical & logistical difficulties, poll worker shortages, volumes of mail-in ballots -- thousands, maybe tens or even hundreds of thousands of voters will be unable to participate, and that will even out the current difference between Trump and Biden. It will go to the courts.

When it ends up in the courts again -- how secure do you feel about Biden's advantage?

When did Fark became the funhouse mirror image of ClownHall?  Voting will be challenging, but if Biden wins by ten points 25% of the country might not care what Trump might do to stay in power but 70% will most definitely care and he'll be gone come January.  Feel free to bookmark this thread so I can remember to point and laugh at how paranoid delusional you were being come November 4th.

Hold it. Let's be clear about this. It's not Trump we fear. Mary Trump said it during her Colbert interview. It's his fuhking enablers. Yeah he doesn't have 50 million cultists we need to worry about or anything like that. Strongman throughout history means that person who is the most physically powerful in all the land, those are just facts.

Ideally you're correct.

Suppose however there's no declared winner on election night because of the sheer volume of absentee ballots to be counted? If the election is at all close Trump will undoubtedly give a victory speech and scream that nefarious forces are stealing the election as
votes are tallied and Biden claims a lead in ensuing days.

Paranoia? Go look at what he's been saying about California's 2018 House results.

Strictly speaking, on reading your post, it sure sounds like voting for Joe Biden literally ISN'T the only way to prevent a second Trump term, because it sounds like the voting won't be remotely fair.

As an aside, that's not "literally" the only way to prevent a second Trump term, and we all know it.

He's going to steal all the money from the down-ballot campaigns and loot the RNC.  He knows he's going to lose and he'll take the GOP down with him just to grift them for a few million more.  The funny part will come when the new administration makes him pay it all back and millions in GOP donations become taxpayer money.

I'm going to vote, but I think I'm also going to lock myself in my game room and play Halo all day afterwards. When Trump was declared the winner last time, I had to throw up and call in sick the next day. I REALLY do not want a repeat performance.

Bullshiat. It's all bullshiat. I will believe Joe Biden is the 46th president of the United States when I wake up in the morning on November 4, and he has 270+ electoral votes. Until then, I'm not believing a single poll or pundit about anything for any reason. I remember 2016. While it wasn't the polls that were wrong necessarily, it was the analysis of those polls, as the saying goes, "Once bitten, twice shy."

Two years ago I would have 100% agreed with you.  Now? I honestly don't think so. He's got to be aware that a whole mess of DAs are going to be after him, hard, and that its in his best interest not to give up power and become vulnerable to that sort of action.  That dovetails neatly with the wishes of his advisory staff, who are quite happy with the way the US is looking right now, would like to see it more so, and would like the gravy train of wealth and power to continue.  He has every reason to do everything in his power to contest the election result, and the rub of it is, ultimately, who will stop him? Who has stopped him thus far?

People are only bound by the laws which can be enforced against them. Which laws have been successfully enforced against Trump lately?  Or to paraphrase someone with a lot of experience in rigged political systems, "how many divisions does the Pope Supreme Court have?"

Thank to people here, along with the advice of a co-worker, I registered for an absentee ballot.  I voted that way in the recent primary, and my General Election ballot arrived yesterday.  You're damned right I'm going to ensure I vote for November 3rd.

My prediction based on how 2020 has been going so far: If Biden only wins by a slim margin Trump will turn it into a shiatshow and demand recounts, the count will then mysteriously shift back in favor of Trump and stacked courts will back him up.

The cult hasn't gone anywhere. They've just retreated further into their bubbles. Winning by a slim margin is not going to cut it. Younger voters need to turn up for this one.

drjekel_mrhyde: We won't know who won till the 9-10th with massive early voting and absentee voting

Early voting results are usually tallied before election night and delivered to the media on embargoed release conditions.
That's why at one minute after the polls close, CNN, FOX, etc. have numbers to show, and figures like "18% reporting", in addition to their exit polling results.
But you're spot-on about absentee ballots. Depending on the state, those can arrive up to a week late and still be counted.
