In late March, according to an ABC News poll, 51% of Americans approved. Today, only 38% do. The number of Americans who trust what President Trump tells them about Covid-19 is even lower: only 34% put a great deal or good amount of trust in what he says on the subject. Sixty-four percent trust him only a little or not at all.

38% of Americans still have not gotten it through their skulls.  Also, the only thing you can trust Trump to do is something that benefits him, either directly (constantly staying at his own hotels on the Government dime) or indirectly (doing favors for people in hopes they will like/respect/say good things about him)

Well, that and Ivanka if he really thought he could get away with it.

I'm sorry. While I appreciate the goal of this article, and the tone is well and good, we are LONG past the point of trying this tack. Three months ago this would have been appropriate. We sailed past that.

Grow some damn testicles. Skewer this idjit. Wrack him up over this mess. Now is the time for even the "solid" news organizations to take this Administration, and all their enablers, on, and illustrate their MASSIVE failure to the country and its people.

No. You don't get to play softball and try to sound "reasonable." You DID that already, and it didn't work. You tried to be supportive. And it didn't work. Now is the time to fire up the damn cauldrons of tar, and pull the bags of feathers out.

No. Forget smug and forget mild. Now is the time to make this chucklef*cks afraid, and realize exactly what kind of Hell is riding for them. So they see it. In time to shart themselves.

It's foolish to trust Trump.

James Buchanan's extended family will never forgive, nor forget to thank Trump for taking the #1 spot as worst president ever... by a massive margin!

Could you imagine if there was an actual, direct threat to America? This invisible dem hoax virus that will be gone when the sun shines is child's play.
trump-the-assclown would fark up that kind of response/protection beyond your wildest dreams.

The Perineum Falcon: 38% of Americans still have not gotten it through their skulls.

38% of Americans are willfully delusional and will support Trump absolutely no matter what.

That 51% from March surely is something.

But about 'I got mine' crew in the 38%, I really don't understand them. My buddy was talking about his brother and how he's voting for Trump again because he's never done better with his business.

Even if that is the case, you can't leave your house right now without using caution about who you are contacting and what kind of air you are breathing. Who gives a fark what your bank account looks like if that is how you are living?

And we are living this way directly because of Trump. There is no parsing of this issue. He has led the charge on not taking this pandemic seriously, so he is the direct cause of our current shiatty situation.

Even in NJ, where things are relatively good, I'm still taking caution whenever I go outside. It farking sucks and Trump is to blame.

If he closed his pie hole, you'd have to say bye-bye Miss America pageant. Does his malfeasance warrant such drastic measures? Sure, he says some hot and nasty things. But as long as you stick to your scruples, hard and firm, he should be allowed to speak.

"Dissembling".  The article used the word "dissembling" talking about the Trump approach.  I want to declare a nation-wide moratorium on any word but "Lied" and all its tenses when Trump speaks.  No more "exaggerate", "mendacity", "erroneous", "perjurious", of "gulling".  Just "lying".  As in, "The President lied today when he was in the midst of another lie concerning previous lies he had used while lying about an even earlier lie he had lied about using".

It wouldn't make me overly happy if the press finally did this, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't feel some gratification.

He should resign  .. Those numbers are only going to get worse with each passing day .. The verbal commitment line forming to piss on his grave is already larger than his inauguration crowd ..

Well, dissembling and prevarication are not euphemisms like "erroneous" and "mendacity" can be. But I agree that they are nonstandard words that aren't included in school curriculum, so most people don't know what they mean.

Resign? In his moment of triumph*?

I will say that for all the things that are worse in this timeline, a timeline where Hillary Clinton is president and COVID-19 happens would somehow manage to have had even more severe nuttiness of skeptics/anti-mask advocates than in this universe. The "a mask is just half a burka! It actually makes you sicker!" thing would be in the GOP platform, and I guarantee the full speed ahead to open up everything would still be going on at the state/local level while Republicans and Democrats concede she at least deserves a majority of the blame of the 30K+ deaths by election day.

That he is still president is an indictment of our society. That he became president is an indictment of everyone who voted for him and those who helped elect him (Facebook, the rightwing media, the "liberal" media). The ones who don't feel deep shame at having enabled that are beyond rehabilitation and should NEVER be trusted again.

It would, however, be quite humorous if aliens tried to suck him up into their spaceship.
And you could hear their engines drawing down, shifting gears, pulling up to 7000rpm, watching him hover about 8-12 feet off the ground for 1/2 hour...the exhaust ports on the spaceship glowing, at first, bright red before going completely white...
The ship shuddering under the incredible load, aborting the attempt, and floating, limping away as it began to self-correct for the unexpected damage it had just endured...
While don crashed to the earth with a gooey thud similar to the placenta release of a very large Indian elephant...

"President Clinton has politicized the COVID-19 pandemic by urging Americans in predominantly red states to follow recommendations to wear masks and practice social distancing. The Administration continues to deny allegations that its conciliatory trade policies with China and opposition to immigration restrictions led to the introduction of the disease within America. 'She lied about the emails, why wouldn't she lie about this?' commented Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, as Congress continued to debate bringing Articles of Impeachment against Mrs. Clinton for her mishandling of the nation's response which has led to what some experts estimate to be as many as 30,000 deaths."
