Worst blackout of my life was tequila.  I can't touch the stuff anymore.  I can barely be at the same table as somebody drinking a margerita.

Probably by drinking some rum.

Tequila is only worth drinking if you can afford the really good stuff.
Which I can't right now.

FYI: Open tequila has a shelf life.

Was saving the last of an añejo for a special occasion. Poured the last of it about three months ago and it tasted like it had been watered down. Ended up pouring it out. Kept the jug, tho.

This is my tequila story.

I never go to bars - I have zero self control and I always end up in trouble.

However, a few years ago I went with friends.  They proceeded to dance, socialize, etc...normal responsible stuff.  I just sat at the bar and drank.  Shots of tequila.  11-12 shots later they are ready to leave.  The bartender warned my friends something to the tune of "No way can you let that drunk motherfarker drive home".

I am a huge Auburn football fan, and had an AU jacket on.  This being Alabama, somebody yelled "roll tide" as I was leaving.  I proceeded to fight.  I am not a fighter.  They drug me out of there, and drove me home, leaving my car.  When I got home I decided the thing to do was call a cab to take me back to the bar so I could get my car.  The cab company, apparently realizing my state of drunkenness, hung up on me and no cab was forthcoming.  I called my friend who drove me home, and left a really rambling death-threatening cuss-filled rant about screwing me over because I didn't have a car.

Fast forward to the next work day after a headache-filled-nausea-enveloping weekend when apparently at some point I got my car (I don't recall how that part happened), I drag myself into work and have a voice mail.  My friend had played back my drunken rant on my voice mail so I had to hear myself.

gas giant: Tequila is only worth drinking if you can afford the really good stuff.
Which I can't right now.

Pretty much this.  For the longest time Tequila was gag-inducing, basically because of the crap we drank in college and early twenties.

Fast forward to today and I can drink it straight, on the rocks.  But of course I'm buying the good stuff.

My favorite tequila bar. Sadly, no longer exists (this was just a part of the collection - no Patron or Cuervo in the place)

If I had to choose only one booze for the rest of my life, it would be Casa Nobles Añejo.
