He dissed his own family. Yeah it would violate the NBA bubble but family should come first here.

A wedding is not that important, unless it's your own.

He did the right thing.

I wouldn't get married in an epidemic, and I wouldn't ask my guests to congregate during one.  ymmv

Does anyone else find it pretty socially irresponsible for professional sports to be carrying on in the middle of this?

I mean, since Americans are farking stupid and will think "If they can do it, why can't I? And that guy's not wearing a mask, so why do I have to?"

I don't think sports should start back up yet.  Or schools.

a wedding in Texas would be just about the very worst destination for someone planning to return to the bubble.

Dead for Tax Reasons: meh, there'll be other weddings

One of the small joys of being older is I'm past the whole wedding thing. Back in my mid-to-late 20's early 30's it seemed like there were 2 or 3 every summer. I farking hate weddings.

I was expecting the article to be about news he was farking his cousin or something.

This guy is going to get a bunch of minutes.  The team's first two PGs  aren't going to be playing for a while.  As a Laker, he's going to have a bunch of eyes on him; especially other teams.  This guy has the best chance, playing with some all stars and being left open, to make a name for himself and cash out with a sweet free agent deal that'll set him and his children up forever.  Tyronn Lue is an example, I think.  Some others.  He can miss one family event.

I suspect some of his family will understand some won't , the exact percentage will depend on how closely related he is to one of the two people getting hitched.

i started saying no to just about all wedding invites at a certain point.  it was funny how some of the people who got the most upset about it were the ones where i was clearly not on the first round of invites and was only asked because too many people had dropped out already

it really amazed me that i got invited at all considering i'd compensate for my utter boredom at receptions by making full use of the open bar

sometimes family is shiat. being related to someone by blood/adoption/marriage doesn't automatically make that person good or important or worthy.

/no idea what this guy's relationship with his sister is, just saying in general

Eh, they'll be fine.

100 person indoor gathering in Texas sounds like a terrible idea to begin with. He can change every generation of his descendants' lives if he plays well in the restart. He's going to have playing time.

Getting married is one thing, the couple can do that responsibly with a J.P. and two witnesses. Having a wedding with attendants and a reception is certainly crazy at the present time.
