A Mozilla spokesperson told ZDNet in an email this week that a fix is expected for later this year in October.

I've managed to develop a fix for it right now. Uninstall Firefox. You're welcome, I'll send you a bill.

I use safari. It uses less than half the resources.

Based on those glasses, I think the fox has been doing more than watching.

I use Firefox on android. The phone says it doesn't have camera permissions.

I have a piece of scotch tape I markered on, over the front camera anyway because I'm an untrusting paranoid, so screw eye-tracking, data thieving, targeted-data manipulation AI anyways.

FTA: "...keeps the smartphone camera active even after users have moved the browser in the background or the phone screen was locked."

Serious question, it says nothing about closing Firefox completely, so would that work?

Yeah, but it'll only see my outer thigh.

Don't give camera permissions to applications that don't need the camera.

If you do, assume that the are being used at ever opportunity.

Don't give microphone permissions to applications that don't need the microphone.

If you do... Etc

What if we work well with an audience?

Ssssh - don't go bringing logic into this!

/why doesn't an app close when I don't close it???

Eh; turnabout's fair play. I'm watching Cellphone Fox while I masturbate...

I think this is more of a device access issue on Android's part. If it has legit purposes, it should be its own permission

Oh, I DRTFA.

No, I use Chrome on my phone. I'll never get an iPhone. Love my MacBook, but I hate iOS.

This was reported a year ago but they'll get it sorted by October? Nice response time.

I'll gladly let it hog more resources for the added excitement of an audience.

Any App that uses a video camera or audio can persist, pause, or keep playing. Firefox was continuing to use the resource you asked it use, granted permission to use, and then you didn't stop using. Some might call that a feature, you know since you didn't close it. Think of it like Pandora, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, etc streaming music while using another app. Does that sound like a feature or a security hole?
