(Kotaku)   Twitch responds to the US Army trying to trick kids into enlisting using fake giveaways with a very sternly worded "Hey guys, could you not?"   (kotaku.com) divider line

I farking hate a military recruiter. I'd share a dinner table with a pedophile, a human foreclosure rubber stamp, and Trump than spend time with a recruiter. They are absolute psychopaths who will do anything to lure another person's off spring into physical and moral peril so they can strut around in uniform while safe, cozy, and state side.

Recruiters start hounding kids as young as 9th grade and they continue right through the college years. In some areas, they will come to a family's home in an attempt to gain access to a minor who is listed by the parents as "no contact."

For those of you who have kids between the ages of 9th grade and senior year of college, be warned that your kids peers get paid a cash bonus for turning over your son or daughter's contact information. That polite young man that you have hosted in your home a dozen times could well sell your son out. Once the recruiter has the contact information they will email, text, offer to talk, email, text, provide a "private" cell number, email, text, call.

Since my son signed up, we've learned that a pair of recruiters worked for approximately TWO YEARS to persuade him to sign up. I can't believe the b.s. my son is currently parroting. If an organization like to Moonies had done this, we could hire de-programmers. Instead, all we get from anyone is "Oh, you must be so proud! Make sure you do everything you can to support him!"

We're all about First Amendment rights and freedom of religion in this country so long as everyone worships war and  money. The rest of us are expected to fall in line.

When my kid was a senior in highschool some military recruiter called my house and demanded to speak to the kid. The babymomma read that guy the riot act forwards, backwords and in sixteen different languages she has never actively studied before hanging up. I'm not even a little surprised that they are now going after the Twitch crowd.

Bruscar:

Sorry about your kid m8. Marine recruiters are the absolute worst. They make Maxwell look like a nun.

Recruiters I met, in hindsight, were, ironically, turds.

PSA: If you want to get a recruiter out of your kids life, tell him/her to tell them that "they have a strong objection to taking a human life." They need to do it themselves. The phone will stop ringing.

I'm not one of the law degree holders but, I'm pretty sure the US has very *very* strict laws about contests and their operations and this 110% is full on illegal, and proveable in court.

That said, I doubt the value of a Xbox controller will cover legal damages.  Still, if there's one thing I know about suing someone is you only do it if they have deep pockets, and the US military, well, I don't think you can find deeper pockets.

Any first year law student looking to get their beak wet?

Nope.

We're conversion Quakers. The kids are largely deemed birthright Quakers. Our kid registered for the draft as a conscientious objector. We oppose all war. Or we did. Apparently, now American driven wars are necessary to stand up against bullies and protect the peace ... or some shiat.

We have a casual friend (also a Friend) in another state who hails from the Amish community. Recruiters are pursuing and have lured in one of her Amish nephews.

They are absolute predators. I confess that I have no Christian feelings toward them. May God forgive me, but to state anything else would be a lie.

Why not block Recruiters? They've clearly violated some ToS clause, right?

No?

So update the ToS (as one does, or might do) to condemn Recruiting.

4. Sue, sue, sue! Profit!!

I'm sorry. No words. Just those. They don't don't fit.

The double negative works, I guess. Point is, a person of conviction should not be met with that. Alvin York be damned.

I'm not seeing the words 'blocked', 'banned', or 'issued a cease and desist order'

Twitch finally got around to banning Dr Disrespect...why is it so hard to ban blatant propaganda?

Twitch is a stupid idea. It's a stupid platform. It's just plain stupid.
