Same guy received $700mill in loans when his company was valued at only $70mill, from the Gov. Donated a bucket of cash to his election. Must be a coincidence.

Stop Saturday deliver. Or maybe every-other-day delivery.

Require all new neighborhoods to have one mass mailbox center instead of individual mailboxes at every house.

Charge bulk mailers more.

Understand that this is a service for the public good (like police and fire fighters) AND NOT A GODDAM PROFIT CENTER

/sorry. Proposing actual solutions to made-up problems.

What, like Political Campaigns? We can't have that, now!

/Honestly, I'm okay with your proposals
//We should add "Let the post office raise prices in general" and "Reduce the Pension requirement" while we're at it
///Maybe allow postal banking, too?

As I told my folks a few days ago.

If you are voting by mail, DO NOT MAIL THE BALLOT. You can hand deliver it to the location listed, or at your polling place if I'm not mistaken. They will undoubtedly be slow to mail ballots. If you must drop it in the mail, 2weeks early, minimum.

This is a violation of Trump's oath of office to protect the Constitution due to the postal clause.

If you want electoral ballots from cities to be lost... you have to delay the mail starting now.

Wealthy people won't mind if their payments are late.

All of America ought to follow Trump's lead and not pay for anything until the post office is faster than it was before and the pandemic is concluded.

Close underutilized locations.

There is a post office in Prairie Home, MO. Population a couple hundred. Maybe 4-5 people go into that office each day. Doesn't need to be staffed. Start closing these wastes of resources (labor, maintenance, and capital costs).

Another bloated government bureaucracy that needs to be privatized anyways. Just where in the constitution does it say we need a goddamn postal service?

It wasn't that long ago that the Republicans demanded the USPS do something to save costs, and the USPS suggested ending Saturday delivery, and the Republicans were totally against that idea. Because they don't really want them to save on costs. As far as I'm concerned, ending Saturday delivery is a great idea. There's hardly anything that can't wait until Monday, and if it really can't wait, you probably wouldn't be sending it via snail mail. Republicans are garbage, is my point.

In Wisconsin, in the recent primary, 80% of the Republican votes came in by mail. Vote by mail used to heavily favor Republicans. Hope this works out well for them.

Serious question, and one which I've never really gotten a satisfactory response.  Why do Republicans hate the Post Office so much?  I mean, I'm not a huge fan of the personnel, but they generally get the job done pretty efficiently.

Is it purely because soshulisms?

Because the post office is intended to advance science.

Hey everyone! Vote by mail is suddenly perfectly fine!  What do you mean registered Democrats mailed their ballots three weeks before the election and they showed up in December?  Weird!

Assuming that Amazon will probably pay to keep their shiat coming fast, I guess the major way this would affect me would be I'd have to wait a couple extra days to get the COUPON VAL-U-PAK and Kohl's 15% Off coupons that I dump immediately into the recycling bin.

They can't make a profit from it.

It doesn't make rich people richer.

Seriously. Republicans hate anything that isn't a profit center.

Seniors will be told, and they'll believe it, that these new changes were actually put in place, back in the Obama/Biden administration.  Many people didn't know that.  It's been a disaster. And now, Trump has put in a new Postmaster General to fix everything.

Problem solved.

2020-07-16 2:19:27 PM
Start? Oof. We've only been getting our mail 1-2 days a week already, and I live in a huge city. Guess I won't be getting my meds in the mail anymore, even though it's way cheaper. :/

Only the ones not in some form of cognitive decline. Their middle aged children are responsible for retrieving that shiat from the mail, sorting it, and distributing it.

It's hard enough taking care of elderly parents. If this doesn't motivate the average, middle aged American to get off their asses to vote, then fark em. I still pick up me, and my sister's meds from Walgreens.

What I want to know is when people like him and Trump will be in the public stocks in the street so we can all throw tomatoes and rotten eggs at them? After plaguing the country and grinding everything to a halt practically I think need a legal woodshed visit at the very least.

Certain legal notices have to be sent by mail, and the clock on responding to those notices generally starts on the post-mark date, not the date they are received.  If they are going to start delaying USPS deliveries that will require a whole lot of changes to litigation laws.

Ads are the bread and butter of the PO. If they start delaying those, most of which are weekly time sensitive ads, they will go down. I guess that is the idea.

Yet more evidence that you have absolutely NO F'N idea what you're talking about.  I mean, not even a little bit.

Find me a private company that will deliver a letter to the middle of Alaska for $0.55.  Go ahead, I'll wait.
Can't find one?  That's because there is no such thing.

And the service is not bloated.  Hell, they are stifled by lack of proper funding right now.

We HAVE private delivery services.  They are very expensive.  Now kindly go back under your rock.

Sounds like he should be impeached, again.

But I'm told that's a waste of time and that we shouldn't bother doing the right thing because the GOP will just do the wrong thing.

So, instead we do nothing and evil wins.

This is an attack on vote by mail. Millions of mail-in ballots get delayed and don't count. Rules vary from state to state, but I would think that every state has some rule about ballots not being accepted if they arrive after a certain date.

If a post office's funding is cut to the point where it can't function, it's not established, it's a random building with no purpose.

Trump is obstructing Congress.

Screwing their constituents is the entire purpose of the Republican party.

been buying books of stamps and writing in large letters on post\cards to my family and friends that Trump is an asshole trying to shut down the USPS and it's not scientific but they are sure arriving faster than expected.

2020-07-16 2:30:34 PM
all they have to do is remove the requirement to fully fund the USPS pension fund 75 (!) years in advance...thats it.

do that and suddenly they stop hemorrhaging money.

2020-07-16 2:31:54 PM
The GOP has been trying to gut the USPS for many years, while the current mail in votes angle might be an added benefit, it isn't why they are doing this.

They are trying to remove one of the best services offered by the government as part of their campaign to make the government as awful as possible and privatize it so their donors can profit (and wealthy people who can afford private options will be screwed over much less).

It doesn't need to go any deeper than that. But the mail in voting is a bonus and might get them that little bit more of moronic support for this.
