The United States of America passport. Now worth less than Sino-Russian toilet paper. Like theme park fun money, it is accepted no where.

SWEET!!!

Maldives is comprised of a series of atolls in the Indian Ocean and is bisected by a number of international sea lanes. Authorities have expressed concern the islands are being used as a transit point for money laundering, narcotics trafficking, and illegal immigration to Europe.

Hence why I said "ruins", but you can visit and explore them.  And then further South is the Sahara.    PERFECT!

Don't forget the Star Wars ruins if you can get enough body guards to visit them! Way more fun than the salted fields that were Carthage.

When I was at the ruins there some years ago, I mistakenly pointed my camera at the palace. I had four rifles pointed at me with bayonets within 30 seconds and had the film ripped from my camera. Good times

Were you there prior to 2011?    I've heard it was dicey there a while back, but from what I've been reading it's gotten better, and they're starting to put infrastructure in place to encourage tourism.
It doesn't matter to me, though, I've been wanting to visit this country for a long time, now.  :-)

It was in 2000 on my tenth wedding anniversary cruise, things weren't that bad then but had gotten worse over the years. I hope things have gotten better as it was a beautiful country to visit.

Republicans have told me that anyone visiting Turkey is just going there to cross into Syria and join daesh.  Besides, who would want to go to a country that just turned a museum into a mosque?

Tunisia sounds like a good place in a bad neighborhood. I wouldn't mind going there, but maybe not right now.

Looks like otras vacaciones en Mexico para mi!  For all of the stories you hear about Mexico, and I believe they're all true,  I've never had a bad experience there.  I haven't even gotten sick from drinking the water.

Muslim women in Morocco were free to where whatever.   They don't have to cover-up, and plenty didn't.

Many of the women I seen wore scarves that covered their hair, but their faces were exposed.

By land mass Mexico and Turkey are 89% of where you can go with a US passport. Mexico alone is about 63% of where you can go.

As I said the year was 2000. Some of us photography types still shot lots of film at that time. That trip of two and half weeks and nine countries I shot 23 rolls of 36.

I think Lebanon is still open and I'd go back there in a heartbeat if I could afford to fly private.

I am not terribly worked up about Americans not being permitted to visit a ton of great places right now other than it's a result of moronic leadership. I basically have zero interest in getting on a commercial airplane which makes it hard to get to Europe or Asia. I guess I could sail but that seems an even worse idea.

My cousin was in Kosovo with the Canadian peacekeepers. I take it that she did not have fun. But you are right about the Adriatic coast being extraordinarily beautiful and well-off the beaten path of tourism for the package tourists. Reminds me of something said about Canada, namely blessed are the people with no history.

The whole Balkan region has way, way too much history. They are still making a bit even today.

Handsome B. Wonderful: Looks like a holiday in Cambodia is still an option. Don't forget to pack a wife.

Cambodia has done great fighting the Covid. They are really practiced in the art of not being seen. Even with Dr. K's carpet bombing, they died unseen, after all the trees were agent oranged. A very appropriate place to get away from King Orange Julius. They might still not be very fond of Americans, but just shoot a few Vietnamese tourists and you'll be fine. Like the Vietnamese, who also did well in the early days of the virus, they absolutely hate the Chinese. The monument to the American War is tiny and shabby compared to the one in the 900 year plus war with the Chinese. (In Vietnam, not Cambodia. They have their own world class ruins.)
