That's Border Patrol tactical unit, for those of us who don't speak in acronyms. Now the question is, were they arresting an undocumented person, or are they there as goons for Trump?

Use your words.

Sad to see we have to treat police like toddlers to prevent people being ahot.

DTFT*: the protester is an agent provocateur, and they're sending uniformed pickups so as to not spoil their illusion of authenticity.

Why is border patrol goon squadding in a minivan?

Good question. One that will not be answered. I think we are going to see more of this as November approaches.

An unmarked minivan can easily get its tires slashed.

For anyone who's listened to the 'it could happen here' podcast, it particularly uncomfortable.

The Portland Police should just follow these guys around, with their lights flashing.

There's a difference?

The funniest part is that situations like this are exactly why the 2nd Amendment exists.

You'd think the gun nuts would be on the other side of this.

Technically it would be completely legal to fire on them - they aren't police, they haven't identified themselves nor are they affecting an arrest, but as we know, republicans don't think laws should protect people other than them.

That's not an arrest it's a kidnapping

So any dude with some surplus camo and mom's minivan can climb the basement stairs and start stealing people off the street?

Fark's right wing mealteam must have the biggest boner right now.

Dodge minivan?  Well, at least de-militarization of police vehicles is happening.

Habeus Corpus?

Sorry, never heard of them.  I don't listen to hip hop.

2020-07-16 8:39:11 AM
They just combined the "snatch people off the streets in suburb Minneapolis" with the anonymity of "We're with Department of Justice" forces in Lafayette Park.

All that was missing was "Get that farking camera! He's filming us!" *NO CARRIER*

Unless they're brazen as DGaF, or to engage people filming would raise more questions than answers.

Robert Evans, host of 'It Could Happen Here', 'Behind the Bastards', etc. has done an excellent job of documenting the escalating fascism in Portland on his Twitter account.

Nobody expects the BORTAC squadding minivan!

maybe we should visit that law allowing border patrol to operate with in 100 miles of the border. perhaps 5 miles would be better

Honestly, I've seen this video before, and I was under the impression it was for a South American shiathole country.

What the hell ?

Back when america had laws it was highly illegal to impersonate a police officer.

There's a TL;DR comment at the bottom of yesterday's RBG thread that makes a compelling argument that the 2nd amendment was actually meant to be able to quash insurrections (Link).  While I'm not a constitutional lawyer, it's an interesting take on the topic.

Cool... cool.  So now militia douches know they can slap on some surplus camo, rent a van, and go pick up these rabble rousers without meeting resistance.  Surely that won't escalate the situation.

Yup.  And so I assume that all the gun nut 2A folks will hop in here to acknowledge that if they were there, the exact same thing would have happened for this very reason and that their entire raison d'etre is a farking fig leaf.

I suspect that assumption is ill-founded, however.

The laws are still there. The government has decided that the laws only apply to specific groups.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Repatriation

The Mexican Repatriation was a mass deportation of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans from the United States between 1929 and 1936.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Repatriation#Federal_government_action

President Hoover publicly endorsed Secretary of Labor Doak and his campaign to add "245 more agents to assist in the deportation of 500,000 foreigners." Doak's measures included monitoring labor protests or farm strikes and labeling protesters and protest leaders as possible subversives, communists, or radicals. "Strike leaders and picketers would be arrested, charged with being illegal aliens or engaging in illegal activities, and thus be subject to arbitrary deportation."

Now the part about how half of America which lives within 100 miles of the coast or a border is in a Constitution free zone based on a hodge podge of SCOTUS, DOJ, POTUS decrees, orders, bulls, ukases, and fatwas.

You'll rot in jail waiting for a judge to wallow though this shiat.

Possibly trying to force people to use their 2nd amendment right to resistance against these undeclared goons for justification for the feds to use way too much force?   The heavy handed fed is way better funded and equipped than the poor people being swept away.

I'd also suggest that the feds are hoping one of thesw goons gets popped (appropriately for attempted kidnapping) that would be all the justification they'd need to fo live fire.

It's so sad that we are here.
