I thought that was 10-20 years ago.

Now I imagine it's more like this:

Eddie Lamprey is a more fitting nickname.

What sucks is that when Sears finally disappears, so will a piece of black history. Back in the Jim Crow days, when blacks weren't allowed to shop at white retailers, they went to the Sears and Roebuck catalog instead, making the company wealthy by being the Amazon of its day. Thanking blacks for their business, Julius Rosenwald, philanthropist and president of Sears Roebuck, built state-of-the art schools for black children across the South.

They are already, for all intents and purposes, gone at this point. There are such few stores left, I'd be surprised if any are receiving new merchandise...likely just stuff from emptying warehouses and liquidating stores being moved back and forth.

They aren't, I went in the local one recently to see if there were any tools left worth getting since it is finally shutting down.
I don't think they have restocked anything since September or October of last year.
Most of the clothing left was winter lines and Christmas outfits for kids.
Tools were cleaned out and what was left was overpriced beyond any sensible amount.

I used to buy car batteries, tools, and appliances from Sears but only those things. Guess there isn't any reason to shop there anymore.

Interestingly, Julius Rosenwald was Jewish. He was also responsible for Sears moving to brick & mortar stores.

The Sears store near me is closing.  It is the last full blown Sears in the state.  It looks like a time capsule from 1980.

Craftsman Tools used to be pretty good.  If you hunted for sales you could get them for a pretty decent deal.  Now Harbor Freight beats them.

When I was young, if we asked my parents where babies came from, they said: "Sears".
Oh come, how can that be?
Their answer: "Everything else in the house comes from Sears, doesn't it?"

These days, I guess babies come via Amazon Prime.

There was a Sears Outlet about 15 miles from where I used to live and my dad went there every Saturday morning

Craftsman has been declining for decades before they were sold.

Harbor Freight has never really ascended. I consider anything I get at harbor freight to be single use items. The only thing I get there that last longer than that are impact sockets.

Harbor Freight has definitely ascended.  This jack easily competes with a $600 Snap on one The US General tool cabinets are close enough to Snap On that many (smart) mechanics are using them instead of the ones that require 10 years of payments.

The did screw up big time with the Jack Stand recall.  If you have any jack stands from there, you need to get them swapped out immediately if they are in the bad group.
