Which makes perfect sense, considering Cadet Bonespurs flies in the face of just about every universally-agreed leadership principle in existence.

South Carolina's governor has been imploring his citizens for months to please do the right thing with respect to the coronavirus.

You can see the results of how that went for yourself.

This.

He's weak AND a liar.

I'm starting to get the impression there is a large portion of the population in the US, right leaning, who are willing to make the end of times a self fulfilling prophecy for themselves at least just to reconcile their own political cognitive dissonance.

He might as well have asked them to be voluntarily cucked by a Jimmy Carter/ Franklin Roosevelt tag team.

Missouri Gov Parson is telling people to wear one if they want. but the people just need to get back out there and live. No mandate because the media will have a heyday with him. He was just in town a few days ago for the Cattlemen's Dinner. ~350 in attendance, very few wore masks and social distancing was difficult. Local mayor is sidelined with him saying we don't need masks, just wear one if you feel you need to.

I think I'm going to order a plain neck gaiter, and use fabric paint and a template to slap this logo on there. Pretty heavy red county, the locals at walmart will likely have paranoia triggers to this brand but it's a brand I love.

Yeah, that was hard to watch yesterday. Between DeWine's usual "aw, shucks" W-esque delivery, his milquetoast appeal to civic duty to a bunch of sociopaths, and his botched clone making every face in the world and flailing around up there...it was a real dumpster fire.

Yep. The he started strong with a lot of "Ohio Pride" and "We all need to make sacrifices" and buttering up the audience. I thought he was building up to lay down the lockdown or mask mandate or something. He's been pretty good about staying on top of this and making a few of the hard calls when needed, but other times he completely wusses out (like reversing an earlier mask mandate and also allowing Dr. Amy to get run out by the mask-debaters.) So last night's "pretty please beg-fest" was stupid and disappointing.

He started this thing strong.  From what I'm hearing the party apparatus has been working to fight him on any new stay at home orders.  Particularly Husted and Yost.  Dewine is in a tough spot.  Both the attorney general and the lieutenant governor can win big political points by opposing, stalling and litigating these orders.  I hope he does it anyway.  DeWine isn't running again so he has a little freedom to do what's right here regardless of the consequences.  I hope he finds his backbone again.

He's done this before as a warning shot. The next one has usually been the real thing.

I really wish he hadn't let the nutballs scare him into backtracking in May, but only the stupidest among them can't see the result, whether they admit it aloud or not. Meanwhile, every populated county is mask-required, and all Krogers, Walmarts and Costcos. Church picnics are still a thing, I don't trust em.

burning fever for 9 straight days, coughing every 30 seconds, didnt even realize my voice was farked, till i tried calling my boss, and couldnt talk.

im a chainsmoking alchoholic, at age 49. only once was i about to call for an ambulance, i could not get air in my lungs, and was freaking out, got on my feet, and walked it off. if i was a few years older, or less mobile, probably woulda been done.

tried to get a test, they said i had bronchitis, go get a test for the flu, across town, then bring back the results, and maybe...

ill be completely honest, any fever ive ever had, broke within 3-5 days, this burned me up for 9 days straight, and the coughing was the worst. i smoke, and drink, so i know it mightve been a little easier on me, but holy shait ive never been that sick

These Republican politicians are more afraid of voters than the potential damage the virus is going to cause.  I've said it before - the idea that the GOP would actively work against public health measures during a global pandemic? No one saw this coming; it's beyond comprehension.

There can be benefits, though.

I live in Greene County. It's still difficult to find hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes in my town because it's inhabited by USAF officers, engineers, and other edumucated folk who tend to take infection control seriously.

I work one day a week at a satellite office in Miami County. The Menards there has shelves full of 64 oz jugs of hand sanitizer for $9 and almost always has wipes in stock, because it's MAGA-land and most people believe the China Virus is a hoax. The store requires customers to wear a mask and every time I go there I witness at least one angry tirade about freedumbs.

Republicans have spent forty plus years branding themselves as the anti-government party. They have told people that for unspecified reasons government (deep state), corporation (Microsoft), or educated elites (anyone they don't like). Now they are trying to convince the same people that they should listen to government doctors while they wait for a vaccine from a corporation.
