2.  A judicial officer for purposes of this section shall be a judge, arbitrator, special master, juvenile officer, deputy juvenile officer, state prosecuting or circuit attorney, state assistant prosecuting or circuit attorney, juvenile court commissioner, state probation or parole officer, or referee.

Throw the book at both Trump and Parson.

That is a really good point.  Bonus, this prosecutor has ALREADY gone after a different Missouri Governor... and she has only been in office a bit over three years.

Parson is planning a special session to address violent crime in St. Louis and Kansas City, and he said Gardner should be focused on crime, too, not the McCloskeys.

She took down an abusive Governor and now she's going after two dingleberry bullies who have made a career harassing and threatening pretty much everyone.  Sounds like she is focused on crime.

I live near St. Louis (technically St. Charles) and I'm already getting sick and tired of hearing about and seeing these assholes.

Both Trump and Parsons have more important things to worry about than Biff and Muffy pretend like they were trying to defend their neighborhood.

2020-07-15 3:15:28 PM
So, does this make her a "That Woman" or a "Nasty Woman"?
I'm a little foggy on just how to classify the flora and fauna in Trumpworld.

A bit harsh. Reckless endangerment for the wife, maybe. Pointing a gun at someone merits at least that.

Donald J Trump has no standing to criticize prosecutors, he is resisting arrest by refusing to resign.

That's why she's on the GOP's radar. She helped take down their golden boy who is desperately trying to inject himself back into the public spotlight. She's public enemy #1 to them.

At the very least, since SCOTUS basically just said state charges against the P are valid, charge him and make the Governor pardon him, partly for the political fallout, partly for the sheer joy of it.

In an interview Tuesday with Townhall Media, Mr. Trump defended the couple, saying "they were going to be beat up badly, if they were lucky" and that their house was going to be ransacked and probably burned. He called talk of prosecuting them a disgrace.

That's true. Every other house in that neighborhood was ransacked and burned down.

Definitely the words of a man with his finger on the pulse of the situation.

"Crime" to these folks is a black person walking down the street in the wrong part of town, or some college kids with some weed, or a woman speaking Spanish in the checkout line at the Shop'n'Save. You know, burglary, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration, all right there in black and white tan.

2020-07-15 3:22:29 PM
The problem is that her office has been a mess since day one.  They do not have the appearance of being a real solid prosecutorial office, and they seem to pick and choose cases by politics.  She could easily lose re election simply because she is ineffective in most respects.

I would also say that while Trump and Parsons want to stick their nose in this, they are probably doing her a favor.

Indict him.  His public statements alone are sufficient to establish probable cause that he committed the crime.

There's no good reason why a state cannot issue an indictment for a state offense against a sitting president.  They obviously cannot actually prosecute until after he's out of office, but there's no reason they can't issue the indictment and have an arrest warrant ready for a Judge's signature at 12:00:01 on January 20.

He has to make it sound scarier than it actually was.

Otherwise people would recognize it's just a desperate attempt to distract people from how badly his administration has mishandled the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gubbo: You know, part of me is actually surprised that it's a crime point guns at people.

Brandishing is a crime in most places. Hard to say whether they'd get off with a decent attorney.

Wish they'd charge cops with brandishing. I suspect we'd cut down on a lot of police violence if they were told the gun was only for self defense and not just to get compliance by threat of lethal force.

mathamagical: Brandishing is a crime in most places. Hard to say whether they'd get off with a decent attorney.

Hrm, I am going to put this on "lol, no."
The brandishing laws actually got upped in power when Missouri went to open-carry (instead of conceal carry).
So... "lol, no" to getting off.  In any sense.  The photos where they are pointing at the cameraperson are dead-in-the-water convictions.
The big question will be "who damaged the gate in this whole scenario."

Gubbo: You know, part of me is actually surprised that it's a crime point guns at people.

One of my favorite useless facts is that the crime of "assault" doesn't mean assault. Hitting someone or shooting them or whatever is "battery" -- the "assault" part of "assault and battery" means basically "threatening to or getting ready to commit battery". Cocking your fist back when in striking range can constitute assault, as can pointing a loaded weapon at someone who you don't have the legal right to shoot.

You know, i really didn't care for her until today, but now i have changed my mind.  Is there a law that you cannot interfere with the rightful prosecution of a crime?

Didn't they both exploit their office to change the outcome of a case?

Let's get all 4 of them in the back of the paddy wagon together, and film all the cowards crying about unfair prosecution.

Oh, sure, we will let them all go. They're wealthy, this is America.
But we will have video proof of what winey cowards republicans are at all levels when justice affects them.

If the protesters had actually entered these people's property, he might have a point. If they'd approached the house and tried to get, he'd actually have a point. If they had seen the guns and scattered like they were in trouble, it would be a pretty weak case, but closer than what the reality is; The protesters kept on about their business, and basically laughed at these people, made some snide comments, and kept on with exactly what they were doing. It's blindingly obvious that the crowd didn't give a shiat about these two and their home, outside of the fact that these assholes were pointing guns at them. And even that barely registered, compared to what one might expect.

Campaign speeches from the Rose Garden, hiding presidential tax forms, mocking disabled reporters, hocking second-rate beans from the Resolute Desk, pardoning co-conspirator, hiding communications with foreign leaders, not displaying his predecessor's portrait, directly interceding in ongoing investigations, naming a partisan toady as AG, white supremacists in the white house staff, extolling traitors to the Union, releasing oppo data on infection control experts during a deadly pandemic.
