'Trump is a singular danger': The president faces unprecedented opposition - from his own party

Then Republicans can draft the articles of impeachment this time. Otherwise fark off, you're lying and don't give a shiat.

Unlikely to happen.  SOME Rs are sick of Trump.  And not even a large percentage of them.  As the article said, they're going after that small percentage of voters to try to make the election swing in Biden's favor as swing states will be key.

I find this hilarious in a "OMFG you are really really REALLY stupid"
trying to take down the duly elected president of the United States," said spokeswoman Erin Perrine.

No dumbass.  They're using their first amendment rights and stating their opinions about a sitting President AND trying to influence the up coming election.  It has little to do with this term and is all about preventing a second term.  As is their right.

""I don't recall in my 30-plus years of working in politics of having so many different groups formed to really bring down a sitting president of their own party," said Miller, who is critical of Trump but not part of any of the organizations (and who is no relation to Tim Miller)."

BULL SH*T

FTFA: "Trump is a singular danger as far as I'm concerned," said Tim Miller, a senior advisor to the group who previously worked for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and the Republican National Committee.

To the nation? Absolutely. However, you're just afraid he's damaging your brand by being too brazen about pushing your ideology. But by all means, continue bashing him. Then the American people will just be sure that you and your traitorous ideology follow him once he's gone.

I'm glad they (supposedly) changed their minds and fine, whatever.

But that they voted for him in the first place is the problem. And that doesn't go away even if we manage to get rid of him.

We should remember that. The decades of gleeful stupidity and appalling racism and misinformation is what created the conditions that led to the clusterfark we're all enjoying today.

The Republicans, the "liberal" media and "social media" should all be held accountable. I'd love it if we could hold them all accountable by making them completely irrelevant forever so that they shrivel up and die.

2020-07-15 3:09:29 PM
It's a little strange watching Republicans single out Trump as the problem.  He's just a symptom of a much larger disease that they have no intention of curing.  They don't oppose his policies, just the manner he tries to implement them.  He's them, just with slightly less filter, a little less competence, a lot less political polish, and with an orange tint.

He is the living embodiment of the modern Republican Party.  Unfettered capitalism mixed with xenophobia and anti-(((globalism))) with just the right amount of hollow platitudes about religion and an anti-PC cherry on top.  Dr. Frankenstein would like to warn us about the rampaging abomination someone let loose on the town, but don't worry, his next attempt will go better.

Republicans put their faith in the electoral college specifically to prevent this from happening and electing some random dumbass. It's the to get rid of it.

The smart Republicans have already seen that the writing is on the wall. They know all too well the damage Trump has done to the country, the Presidency, and their party.

They know Trump is incapable of fixing any of these in a second term.

If Biden wins, they get time to lick their wounds and fix the damage Trump has wreaked on the GOP.

Meanwhile, Biden's priority in office will have to be undoing all the damage Trump has done to the country and they can attack him for not doing it quickly enough.

No, it's the babbling lunacy that really bothers them. And the demonstrated incompetence at actually doing anything to give the Republicans something to brag about (other than tax cuts for rich assholes).

He's done nothing useful and is obviously unfit to lead anything, much less the country. His daily affirmations of both of these obvious facts makes it impossible for them to pretend otherwise.

Wanted: large ox, useful for performing directed work to achieve economic gain.
Received: bull loose in china shop, not useful, breaks everything and owner blamed

Purchased wrong product and destroyed community china shop.  Packaging looked deceptive, not my fault. 0/5 stars, would not buy again. Refund requested.

meh, if there are any smart ones they ae vastly outnumbered by the idiots.  remember the GOP did a whole "soul searching" exercise after Obama won twice.  they were supposed to be a more centrist party that was gonna be more LBGTQ friendly and open to minorities.  look where that got them.

He did do an extraordinary job during the campaign of demonstrating exactly what kind of president he would be :-/

Actually, he really didn't. He basically promised to do anything whoever was listening wanted. And by doing that a good portion of the country saw him as a moderate. Now you know that's bullshiat, I know it was bullshiat. But people who don't pay attention to anything aside from soundbites really didn't, not as much as you'd think anyway

HerptheDerp: To date, only Mitt rMoney has actually stood up against him publicly.  Every other member of the GOP has rolled over and shown belly.

I'm concerned Mitt is playing the long game and will run again in 2024. By then, you won't be able to find a Republican who supported Trump and a bunch of blue dog "Democrats" will jump ship because "he stood up to Trump".  Then the Republicans will once again continue to drive the country backwards.

We need to stop elevating Republicans (including Mitt and The Lincoln Project) as some sort of reasonable compromise.  We need to make sure the whole party and the people in it wear the taint of this presidency for a generation or more.  Trump 100% still represents the racist, sexist, homophobic, and backwards deplorables that make up the Republican party.  I can't think of a policy, executive order, or anything else Trump has done that isn't supported the core of the Republican party (racism and anti-immigrant, anti-woman, extremely regressive taxation, gutting public institutions to install private enterprise in their place, grifting as much as possible, etc.).

I don't care if you have regret for voting for Trump, you voted for him knowing exactly what he represented and by calling yourself a Republican you still support the ideas that he does.  Get #$%&ed and die.

2020-07-15 3:52:51 PM
Ultimately their interest is in saving their party, not the United States.

I think they probably did do a great deal of soul searching.

Unfortunately, their solution was Jeb Bush, who was leading in the polls until You Know Who announced his candidacy.

Jon Stewart made the point that Trump's success in the primaries makes total sense once you remember how much of the conservative base gets their worldview from talk radio.

When Limbaugh is saying on a loop 'You are run by a tyrant, he is going to take away your rights, we are falling, there are rapists and murderers at the border coming to kill you" then of course you're going to listen to the guy that says "Right, let's build a farking wall" rather the safe centrist who supports a path to citizenship.

I thought this might be about Warren learning she will never get a fair shake or be respected by centrists no matter how much she bows to them,
Oh well, I should remember that she has and will  never be that self aware.
